For the first two days even the kids cartoon channel became "CNN" 24 hours a day covering the funeral. Everbody in Oman got 2 days off so a four day weekend. Well I didn't. Have to watch South PArk on my lap top.

DUBAI - It will snow in Dubai this winter. Come September, the world's largest and the Middle East's first ski slope, the Dubai Ski at the Mall of the Emirates, the biggest mall outside the US, will be ready for ski-off.
The 25-storey high (90 metres) ski slope, which has already added an imposing silhouette to Dubai's skyline, is 400 metres long from start to finish, occupying an area equal to three football stadiums, is 85 metres wide, and will allow over 1,500 skiers to enjoy the sport simultaneously, Younis H Al Mulla, General Manager of the Mall of the Emirates told Khaleej Times.
'The skiers can use the ski lift (chair) to travel to the top of the slope, and can enjoy a cup of coffee at the mid-station coffee shop. There's a snow-board park for the youngsters, while for the children, there's a 3,000 square metre snow-land play area as well as ice caves where they can play with snow,' he said, adding that the ski slope will offer downhill runs for both skiers and snowboarders, for beginners, amateurs as well as experts.
The five-run ski slope is part of a massive high tech snow dome, which will be replenished with fresh snow every night. 'It would take some 6,000 tonnes of snow to fill up the dome floor up to three feet, and every night 30 tonnes of snow will be produced to replenish the facility,' Al Mulla explained.
Dubai Ski has an edge over similar facilities around the world. According to Al Mulla, the temperature inside the dome will be one degree below zero as against the universal 10 below zero at other such facilities. 'Skiers can enjoy the place for as long as they want without getting a head-ache due to cold or experiencing problems related to low temperatures. This has been made possible because of a state-of-the-art technique which uses a network of pipes laid under the snow to keep it fresh without affecting a major drop in temperature,' he said, adding that at night, after the dome is closed to the public, the temperature would be brought down to seven below zero. The 223,000 square metre mall is estimated to have cost $1 billion.

Actually , not sure if I say this before I leave the country, but Omanie women as a rule are not very good looking. Maybe thats just my tastes. Some are overly skinny but hard to tell under black robes which most wear. About 10-15% go for the veil so all you know about them is thay have eyes. Actaully try not to amke eye contact as much as possible.Quote:
