I will go once the pandemonium dies down. I don't get the mania over movie first releases.. It's not like a concert that only happens once or twice in your geographical area. It's something that will be exactly the same on the screen all day, every day for months. I'd actually rather wait and see it when the place isn't insanely crowded.
SJG: Sometimes it’s fun to see something, (whatever it is), when your friends see it, so then you can talk about it later. Maybe you should see it on the day it opens so then you’d be an expert on it and tell us your opinions on it.

All I need is TWO arm rests and TWO cup holders. Anything else is total pandemonium! FWIW, I had a bootleg copy of The Phantom Menace before it was released in theaters. Yes, I do things differently than most people..
Luke, I am your father.
and then things went downhill from there......

FWIW, I tend to go to most movies a week or two after they open just to avoid crowds and the increasingly impolite people who tend to go to the movies these days (arriving late and making excessive noise as they find their seats, constantly getting up to go to the concession stand, talking loudly throughout the film, texting on their phones, etc.).
That said, I have seen the last 4 SW movies on opening day at the local Tahoe City theater and will most likely keep that streak alive in Dec.
The owner and staff always dress up in SW cosplay, which is cheesy, but also cool. And seeing the flick with a bunch of ski bum nerds is always kind of fun...

I'll go earlier in the run to see it on the biggest screen.
i’ll go early in the run but not opening day. wouldn’t want to force it...

^^^Truth! But, IHMO it was already like that after Return of the Jedi. Episode I was sort of interesting and super hyped, but nothing compares to the 70s and 80s films.
The prequels kind of killed the franchise for me and I saw a New Hope 30 times as a kid. Now it seems like they are all girl power movies.
My town shows the big films on the Thursday before their official Friday releases. I’ll be sure to spoil it for you, WHA-HAHAHAHAHA

I'm off work from Christmas through New Year's Day. I will see it sometime on or after Christmas Day.
