Well, less than 10 miles left in the race. Barring a complete catastrophe, Lance has won. Can't believe it's almost over. Horner is off the front- hope he makes it. If anyone can make a late break work, it's Horner.

Well, it's official. #7 is in the books. Or more like etched in stone.
Your guesses as to what's next for Lance?
A movie.Quote:

At least they'll have the opportunity to elect a guy who can actually ride a bike.
Here's to Lance and all the inspiration he has given to everyone who follows him. There will never be another like him.
7!
I'm bowing.
I especially liked how he kept the attacks off him a few stages back,
when he simply kept the pace going so fast
that no one could break out and attack, and instead fell off his group.
Twas my favorite stage of Lance showing what he is made of.
He got to give a speech on the podium today which apparently has never been allowed before. He spoke of the guys who have dominated their sports and the role models they are. Spoke of Jordan, Woods, Aggasiz (overstatement) and he mentioned Gretzky and his admiration of how he has stayed involved and moved into an ownership role in retirement. Maybe he'll sponsor a team.
I still want to see him do the ironman damnit! I also think eventually he'll take a crack at the hour record especially since some cheeky never heard of broke it right at tour's end here.
A friend mentioned him running for senate and given Sen. John Kerry followed his time trial in the team car yesterday I could see that in the future. I don't think winning an election would be that tough for him.
There was an article in the Denver Post today about him winning a Nobel Prize in the future- although that may be pushing it, I can see him significantly increasing his involvement in the cancer community in the near future to the point where he could garner an award like that. I think he'll up his involvement in that venture before he thinks about politics.
