NYT crossword puzzle

Anybody else do today's (6/28/18) puzzle? Quite clever and tough (for me) for Thursday

I started it last night in the app but did not finish...no clue discussion plz

[ETA]sorry, go ahead with clue discussion...I will just keep out of it. I don’t mean to shut down the thread before it starts...apologies, steve!

Trivialy easy IMO. (Is "trivialy" a word? Spell check says no. Would the NYT xword use it?)
Crosswords are highly generational. It helps a lot to be the same age as the creator. More and more pop culture references are going over my head. I think the person who wrote today's is old.

I stopped doing the Thurs. as it was often too easy. I like a Saturday when it takes me until Monday night to solve it.

I stil do the Mondays but I don't know why. I don't have your patience. On the extraordinarilly rare ocassions I can't finish a Saturday one by the end of the day I give up and look it up. I do them in the Sac Bee so they're a week or more behind the NYT so I can find the sollution online the same day.

I'm an excelent speler exxcept that I putt double connsonants where there should be singlle and vissa verrsa.

Monday NYT crosswords are all about how fast you do them. I'm not all that fast, under 5 minutes now and then, usually around 6-7 minutes.

Google >Rex Parker NYT puzzle< for same day answers

I do the Mondays and Tuesday by doing all the acrosses that I can first and then doing all the downs I can do without looking at the clues.
We're all pikers here. I was reading about competitive crossworders--they do the Saturday Times for warmup, in under 5 minutes. New Yorker article but it was some years ago and I can't find it on search.

I read it.

Watch the documentary Wordplay re NYT Sunday crossword tournament. The top players are wacky fast, although even the best sometimes get hung up. With Will Shortz (who I curse weekly re too clever by half clues), features prolific crossword constructor Merl Reagle (RIP) creating a puzzle for the movie. Guest appearances by fellow piker crossworders, e.g., Bill Clinton, Ken Burns, Bob Dole, Jon Stewart, Mike Mussina. Very fun movie
