Microsuck Tech Support can lick my balls

My laptop died. Gave me the blue screen of death every time I tried to start it. I got the number of Microshaft tech support. I call them. They tell me they can't help me unless I give them the ID number on my Windows XP CD (which I don't have here). But I could talk to a technician for $35. Eventually, I told them to eat a dick. Today, I biked down to the university, googled the error message, and found a page that told me where to download the Windows installation, and how to fix the damn thing. Two hours later, everything works.

People generally rag on Microsoft for shitty products, but I disagree. The products are fine, the support is useless.

If you don't have an XP reg number, then how exactly is PSS supposed to know you're not running a pirated copy of XP? The protocol is pretty simple. No ID = no free support. That was all spelled out in the product documentation you didn't read. :mad:

That's what saved me from running the Gateway over with a steamroller (seriously, I had one 100 yards away); the knowledge that I'd be going home to my Mac in a few hours.

As for right clicking, it's built into every app. Apple doesn't ship one with their computers, but you can go buy one for $5 and it will have full support in the OS and all apps. Or you can just control+click with the one button. So why not just ship one in the first place? Because then software developers would put exclusive commands in contextual menus just like they do for windows. For pro apps, that's fine; but for general apps it's a really bad idea. Apple's all about the UI.

Ha! It's always fuuny to see how defensive Mac owners get over things like this, when most of the time the spoofs are made by Mac users themselves. I would never buy a Mac as it can't run ArcGis and I do enjoy the occasional right click.

My friend once spilled half a jug of Carlo Rossi on his AlienWare laptop. He spent days cleaning out all traces of the red poisoin from the guts of his fried computer with Q-tips. He sent it back and they sent him a new one. Just an idea for next time.

He didn't say he didn't read it, he just didn't have it. That's the pitfall of the MS process. Who keeps their XP Windows case with them all the time? Who actually writes down their CD product key? How many rhetorical questions can I ask?

Otherwise your answer is correct.

CD is in oregon; I'm in Seattle. Two lines in a DOS prompt at startup will fix the problem if you have the CD. If not, Microsoft provides a download that writes the CD content onto six floppy discs. Support couldn't tell me that, though. They did tell me to call Dell. :fuckyou:

These retards give me the impression that Microsoft tech support consists of a person who knows what a mouse is, sitting at a desk with a troubleshooting flow chart in front of them. They don't actually have a clue what they're doing.

It's all good, though, Google solves all. :)

I think the id in System Props is the product id...the CD key is different. You can Google for programs that will find it on your machine.

I have to say I'm not a mac user, but that video is complete crap. Mac's a pretty damn solid machines. And you can emulate windows, sounds like a microsoft pitch.

That number thats on the properties of my computer is not the cd id number.
