I can not take any credit for this photo. Where I found it, it was claimed to be a NASA photo. It is the coolest I have seen yet. But if I ever travel to see an eclipse I am headed for a sunset or sunrise.
Last one looks extremely fake.
Completely fake (edit.. or maybe not. See posts below). The eclipse occurred mid-dayish when the sun is not anywhere near the horizon. At no point during this eclipse could someone (even NASA) have managed to capture that scene. Additionally, that looks like an annular eclipse.Quote:

Excellent shots Andrew and others :yourock:. That photo with the plane is also pretty amazing. I can't wait for the eclipse here in Vermont in 2024 :) Hopefully it isn't too cloudy in April.

I actually have to take back my post. You are correct about coinciding with a sunrise and sunset. The eclipse was actually first viewable roughly 2,500 miles off the coast of Oregon at -171 degree longitude (aka WAAYYY out in the Pacific Ocean). Or it could be from sunset out in the Atlantic Ocean where the eclipse ended. Here NASA very well could have been flying a plane that captured that image. On closer inspection, what I thought was an island actually looks to be a large cruise ship on the horizon. It would make sense that there would be a cruise ship parked in the perfect location to catch the sunrise eclipse. But there are still elements of that shot that look very fake. It is likely some artifacts of creating a HDR image and oversaturation.Quote:

I didn't want to try to hard, didn't bring a tripod or anything. I made a few test shots and figured out framing. Shot 3 or 4 frames during totality and enjoyed the rest
