Son's football coach has asked me to video tape games (I said yes) and he wants to buy a video camera/camcorder.

Doesn't want to spend a lot and don't need many "extras". HD is good enough....4K not needed.
Video without sound, slight zoom (optical, not digital), and get it on Youtube quickly.
I'd go for a Sony Handicam. They are tried and trusted.
