Very cool. I'd never seen Iceland as a fishing destination. But I do love me some geology, and particularly volcanic geology.
On the topic of those vertical features: that's a great example of
columnar jointing. (Off topic somewhat: my favorite example is the cliff faces in the Owens River gorge (east side of Sierras), where hot springs disrupted the thermal gradients and created flower-shaped columnar jointing patterns. Super cool, if you're into that particular aspect of nerdery...)
