New Trail in CC (Draper Utah)

Hey Guys,

I don't post too much anymore, but wanted to give a heads up that Draper City hired Gravity Logic to build a jump line trail next to Vertigo off the backside of Suncrest. I was doing a couple of laps last night and saw the guys working on it, so I stopped and talked to them.

They said the vision is to have it be like Tidal Wave at Deer Valley. The tables will be in the 16-20' range. They said they expect it to be finished in the next 2-3 weeks.

Vertigo has been a super fun trail, and my only complaint has been I have to pre-jump all the jumps on it or land in the flat. So this makes me excited for a new jump line.

It's great to have so much low altitude riding for early and late. I wish we could get more high alpine stuff around here though.

Oh, and since this is hugely important, I do ride a 26".

That's awesome. Personally I think Vertigo is massively disappointing. There isn't a real honest-to-god jump on the entire thing. At first I was holding out hope that all those rollers were placeholders for actual jumps, but that hope has died. The kiddo loves it though. There were rumors last year that Draper was going to build an old school-style hand-cut rocky non-Flow^TM downhill-only trail next to Jacob's Ladder. It would be pretty cool if that actually happened.

RE: Alpine trails--They're out there. Mostly outside of the Tri-Canyons and you need to be willing to push your bike uphill, but they're out there.

Yeah, I can see what you are saying about it being a disappointment. The first run I took down it last year, a guy from Draper City was at the top. He told us about the design and build of the trail, so I knew the purpose was to mostly be an entry level flow trail. With that expectation in mind, I thought it was really fun.

This same guy did tell me they are building the old school DH trail by Jacob's Ladder. He said it will be all hand cut, and they did flag it last fall.

I'd love to hear more (or go out with you) on some of the non-Tri-Canyon trails. Shoot me a DM if you don't mind. I might know some of the trails you are thinking of, but I always like to find stuff I haven't ridden before.
