Up blue mountain to the moto trailhead. Down and to the left.
Eat downtown. Try the new Poke place or a curry at Sa Wa Di. Just pick an ethnicity andgo with something.
What brings you to town and for how long?
Here as Mountain bike road trip that kept on changing so a bit seat of pants. Here until Sunday.
I could get out tomorrow during the day if you want to go for a ride. I have to take care of a few things in the morning and then am pretty open.
Hey actually if it works for you how about we meet at noon? Jumbo saddle trailhead at the top of lincoln hills drive in the rattlesnake.
If any of the other guys on here want to show up they can.
And then come on the thursday night ride, it will get posted on facebook wed and we get beer and pizza after.

On mntbikemissoula it has Rattlesnake snow bowl lookout loop that we were going to do, got to lookout and hiker convinced us to go back via Curry gulch. Said there was a lot of errosion , not very well maintained. Is that right?
No, Spring is a great ride.
Curry is a stupid way down. Much more useful as an up.
Curry Cabin, or the other one above it (can't remember what it's called. Starts near the overlook) are great downs. Usually you do the short climb back up to the T and decend Sawmill.
Sorry that happened, that hiker was either a moron or trying to discourage biking. I was going to suggest Snowbowl overlook to Spring Gulch when I had a minute and then I forgot. That's one of the better "short" rides in the Rattlesnake. It seems the Missoula biking situation is shutdown for a day or two, at least.Quote:

I don't think buddy was ill intentioned just didn't know biking. Was thinking of going on with plan and meeting at bottom. Anyway the first part was really good and would do again as a lolly pop and go to spring or fence.
Thought I saw a picture on instagram of water flowing down spring gulch trail as the creek had exceeded its bank somewhere upstream. Am i mistaken? Perhaps this is what Buddy Hiker was alluding to?
I saw something like that too, but it was down at the bottom where it connects to the corridor, and only one one side, and over a week ago. I expect right now some parts are pretty damp, but yesterday before it started pouring it would have been fine. But I will be staying out of the rattlesnake for a few days now.

Lot of doubletrack and not a super exciting loop.
Im heading to Missoula this weekend and looking to get a few rides in, I think we will have time for a short ride on friday evening and a longer ride on Saturday. Thinking about hitting a ride in Pattee canyon(MoZ to Crooked) or blue mountain(blue Mt Sampler) on friday and probably rattlesnake(maybe 3 larches and marshall mountain or Snowbowl overlook). If you have any other suggestion I would love to hear them. hopefully the smoke is not too bad but not many places you can go right now without smoke. Also looking for recommendations for camping or places to park for the night. We will be up at the kettlehouse amphitheater on Saturday so if anything is near there that would be awesome. Looks like it is going to be pretty busy in Missoula this weekend, I did a quick search for hotels/Airbnb and everything is booked but that seems to be the case for all mountain towns for the last 6 months.

Blue point/sheep, carlton ridge/mill creek are good big rides if you want to go up a lot.
Marshall trails are fun but there are only 4 of them and they're pretty short and you do have to go up the dirt road and back down the dirt road right now. But once you;re up there you can take a few laps and hang out and stuff. Not a bad friday night option. Three larch is good, one of my favorite trails in town. Do that, then sidewinder, then sound of music and you;ll get like everything up on the saddle. I also ride to the overlook and down spring a lot. The pattee/mt sentinel area has a lot of more rolling stuff, but can be pretty busy and is kind of confusing to navigate. Some of the more fun blue mountain trails are going to be pretty chewed up and dusty because they're open to motos.
I'd try to get out and ride but I work fri and sat and had a pretty good crash last weekend I'm still recovering from. About to try riding the trainer and then might ride to work saturday.
Thanks for the info. Yeah I am planning for hot and smoky but fingers crossed I can find a window that won’t be terrible. Heard there was a pretty good lighting storm that role through salmon last night so likely more fires on the way. Backup plan is hit the river and find cool spot to have a few beers.

It's really hot and really smokey, and I don't think that's gonna change. Might just wanna tube (if the river hasn't dropped to much yet).

I'm in Missoula until Sunday and was wondering if anyone wanted to get out for a ride this week? After work is best for me, although I know it's going to be really hot then.
