starting when i was a little kid and you could only put 3 characters in space invaders for high score, i always put fez. it is sort of an abbreviation of my last name and was my nickname growing up.
then 'that 70's show' came on tv, nearly ruined a perfectly good lifetime nickname. of course, office space made me see the light.
Samir: No one in this country can ever pronounce my name right. It's not that hard: Nayee-Nanajar. Nayeenanajar.
Michael Bolton: Yeah, well, at least you're name isn't Michael Bolton.
Samir: You know, there's nothing wrong with that name.
Michael Bolton: There WAS nothing wrong with it. Until I was about 12 years old, and that no-talent-ass-clown became famous and started winning Grammys.
Samir: Why don't you just go by Mike, instead of Michael?
Michael Bolton: No way! Why should I change it? He's the one who sucks.

Fuckin' New Guy. Roomates gave it to me in the fall of '03 and it's stuck. Many of the friends I've made here don't even know my real name. I order pizza using it. I occasionally sign credit card recipts with it. I go to parties and introduce myself as Ben to little response, but when they find out I'm FNG it's a whole different story. I guess it's kind of my alter ego.
