I never liked the pointy toe look but there was a time in my life when I felt like high heels were something I needed because that’s what all the women in my mother’s fashion magazines wore. The bone spurs weren’t always that bad (I blame the current state of those on an intense phase of telemarking) but my feet have been a size ten since I was like 12. The only options for fancy footwear were boring, old fashioned shops for women with large feet, who - apparently - don’t get to have nice shoes, or shops for men who like to dress like women, which are not boring but also did not seem to have the kind of understated yet elegant shoe I was looking for as a classy seventeen year old. I eventually gave up and cultivated a cutting edge, sometimes androgynous, sometimes more tom boy like look of baggy pants, tank tops and flip flops, before I grew up and started to just always wear my running shoes.

I currently own a pair of not-very exciting but quite nice, classic, black block heels. I can walk in those, within reason. The heel is pretty thin so while not a stiletto it avoids the overly functional, frumpy - have to wear heels - style. I also have a pair of black stiletto boots that I bought for 9.99€ in a corner store in Prishtina/Kosovo during a late-night, spontaneous shopping spree while visiting that interesting city. It seems the Balkan countries are more progressive when it comes to footwear for feet of all sizes, maybe because stripper-esque aestethics are generally much more prevalent in street fashion. I can’t really walk in those but walking is hardly the point in that case.

I have found that the best option for those business casual occasions where moldy running shoes don’t work with the rest of the outfit are classic men’s dress shoes. IMO that can be a really good look with almost anything from a summer dress to a suit. Makes it much easier to walk too.

Glad people are liking my feet. Remember, real feet have curves!

rod9301, what kind of shoes do you wear? Do you like pointy toes?

No, I don't like pointy shoes, but years ago I wore them, and I believe they caused my big toes to point at an angle, scrunched together, and they hurt a little when I climb.

Ah, yes, heels and pointy shoes will fuck up your feet much, much worse than skiing & climbing combined I'm pretty sure. My issues are largely genetic. I have a great relationship with my bootfitter, he works magic so things mostly don't hurt much. (PS: sorry if I overshared earlier and you were actually asking a serious question. the notion of wearing heels on a regular basis with my feet is so ridiculous to me that I just assumed it was a joke and reacted in my special awkward way ;) )

you have it all wrong! ski boots can be adjusted to fit my wonderful feet much more precisely and permanently than sb boots. my sb boots are stiff enough to hurt but not stiff enough to hold a heat mold as well as ski boots or be stretched where they need to be stretched and only there. the strap on the sb bindings also doesn't feel great for more than a few hours.

thank you :) as I said, no pain since I found a good bootfitter (except for when I manage to get a sunburn on my bonespurs)

I will never bitch about my feet again.
