Labs & huskies have maimed more kids around this country than pitties. That's what makes that law so unbelievably retarded. What's next, rounding up the local Mexican population for their darker skin? :rolleyes:

To clarify, the roundup is stupid, but i'm all for phasing out the breed.

Weak or not, i've seen it, pits and rots just seem to be unpredictably agressive at wierd times. Yeah, labs can be agressive if you provoke them, but i've had a friends rot attack me for no reason. I believe it is genetic.

Pitties and Rotties top the list for fatalities, sorry to say.
One "bite" is one thing, and any dog might do that, but to kill a human (usu. child) is a different type of aggression.
Sadly, they could not adjust this data for the popularity of each breed, so other breeds might be more aggressive, but not as common.
And just to clarify, my friends dog was never abused, as a puppy it was the coolest dog, then it was like somebody flipped the switch.
I'm with FLY on this one. We have had SO many bad incidents around here with pit bulls it is just unbelievable.
Not to starrt a war, but think about who is breeding these dogs and who is buying them. I've had Chows attack me as well as Germans, but I refuse to believe it is anything other than a dog acting out of fear. Most people have no idea what it takes to really own a dog. Dogs are naturally pack animals that need to be put in their place in the pecking order socially. A dog might seem to be sweet, but most American pets are allowed to assume the Alpha role. this is no big deal in some breeds, annoying in others and deadly in the case of large powerful breeds such as Ptis and Rott's. This is a social issue, not a genetic issue. Owners that allow a large breed to assume the alpha role, and all dogs will do so if not otherwise trained, are creating timebombs waiting to go off.Quote:

The odd thing about all this is that the American Staffordshire Terrier (A Pit Bull type) used to be ranked as the #1 family dog by the AKC until relatively recently. Remember 'Petey' from "Lil' Rascals?"
Finally, some common sense.
My belief that pitties are chosen & trained to fight is because their jaws & necks are significantly stronger than say, an Alsatian's.
You don't see poodles on this list because who would train a poodle to fight? That would be like training my gradma to fight. Pits and rotts are trained to fight due to their inherent strength and size/build, not a Genetic pre-disposition towards aggression and violence. Terriers(the small yippy kind) are just as aggressive but once again who would ever put a tiny terrier against a pit. Even the nicest pit would sit on the little terrier. My family has and/or still owns upwards of 10 American Staffardshire and Pit Bull mixes over the years. Not one problem even with 5 kids and countless friends hanging all over them.

My friend has three Pits that she takes to dog shows. They are all very sweet and friendly, like she is.
Give me advance warning as they irradicate and commit genocide down that list, I want to make sure Fritz is safe. ;)

They did this same thing in Germany years ago(dog roundup).They killed every Pit, Am Staff, Mastiff,Rotty, and Bull Terrier they could get their hands on. I have done a lot of research on dogs in the past. The Pit Bull is descended from an ancient breed of fighting dog called the Molossers. Many dogs are on this list:MolosserWorld I don't think you will see all of those dogs on a most wanted list. Pit Bulls are popular dogs, so are Rottys. They are both very difficult to keep and handle.
I feel sorry for these owners and their dogs, but there is something that can be done. Breeders need to be responsible. People need to stop buying dogs they can't handle.
The racial aspect is BS. More minorities own these dogs, cause it is an image thing. Sorry folks, that is the truth. Go to a dog shelter some day and look at the dog breeds there. Minorities treat these animals like accessories that can be tossed out. That fact alone is affecting the breed adversely. Fucking sad.
One other thing that really bugs me. How do they know it is a Pit? My dog gets mistaken for a Pit all the time. He is a f'in 22 lb Boston Terrier. He is the exact polar opposite of a Pit.But, people are still scared of him.
Am Staffs have that classic Pit look, cause they have been interbred with them so many times. There is no way for them to tell the Pits from some of the other breeds.
I think this is all media bullshit hype. I know, it is always the media's fault. Well, it is. They report on every fuckin bite from a Pit or Rotty, or (insert scary looking dog). They never mention the little ankle biting Bichon or Poodle that tears into some neighborhood kid on their bike. Course, a Poodle usually won't rip a kids throat out. Slight technicality.
I blame the media for one reason, and one reason alone. Spuds McKenzie.
That is it. The stupid Bud dog is guilty for all of this. Spuds is a Bull Terrier. Part of the Molosser breed. America loved Spuds. They think those dogs are gentle, loving, shit, it's Spuds- he likes beer.
That dog will rip you apart. Bull Terriers are notorious for turning on their owners. They are a handful to own. They were bred to bite and not let go. So, that is why I blame Spuds McKenzie for all that is wrong with the media.

So lets ban all guns and crazy people too. Crazy kids and elderly can be spared because they only cause bruieses. Crazy adults on the other hand should be exterminated all together. ONce they snap there is no controlling them.
And what are they? They would be the dogs that are trained to be aggressive or have shitty owners. I have no problem getting rid of both the aggressive dogs and even the owners for that matter, but simply removing and exterminating the entire breed way outta hand.
As said earlier if they came knockon on my door it would be a cold day in hell when they would be leaving with my American Staff.
