Old foot beds in new boot?

I recently got some new boots thanks to APD the are Salomon course. These boots are great but the foot bed sucks. I have my Custom Foot beds in my X wave 9. These foot beds have about 150 days on them and they smell bad. Should I put these in my boots or wait untill fall when I can afford new foot beds for my new boots. If so any sugestions on how to get the bad smell out of the foot beds?

Always use your custom footbeds.
Try the stock ones, and you will regret it and never do that again.

Custom footbeds last for many, many years. Mine are hard plastic and dont seem to wear out. Although over the years your foot will change shape, necessitating a new pair.


For the stink, try Febreeze or a similar enzyme cleaner (e.g. odor remover for pet urine should work also).

Bleaching will help also, but there is always the danger the bleach will break down the glues and foams in the footbed.

I too recently got new boots, tried the stock footbed and had to call the day early due to foot discomfort. I was actually afeared that the boot wouldn't work for me. Then i used the "stock" footbed to trim my old custom footbed for the new boot shape and size (which was smaller). When i skied the boot next, it was money. I still wound up replacing my footbed to a custom cork one, but the old foam "memory" footbed was doing fine.

also washing by hand and leaving the footbeds in the sun for a few days helps with the smell too.
