Seems to me that since title, registration, sales tax is based on my state of residence (CA), the CA lemon law applies regardless of where I buy my new truck.
Found the one I was looking for, good price, but it's in Boise. If I can get local dealer to get it shipped and sell it for that price, might go that route.
I would guess the Lemon Law is according who you write the check to for the car. Coverage will depend on the fierceness of the State AG? Last time I bought a new car, the local dealer went to out and found it at another dealer and had it shipped. No Lemon Law then. No airbags or CD player either. You could live in the trunk.
It seems unlikely an Idaho dealer is going to conform to a California law to appease an unsatisfied California customer. It also seems unlikely a California enforcement official would attempt to require compliance from an Idaho dealer. It seems unlikely a California dealer, who is likely charging more to cover additional stuff like California emissions and California lemon law returns--aside from the differences in market values, would import something from Idaho and then charge you the cheaper Idaho rate.
But you could try, unlikely isn't the same as impossible.
I doubt you will save much after paying for shipping from Boise.Why not just drive it back yourself
