this drives home the fact that dying in avalanches while skiing is very much a first world problem. not that anyone probably thought otherwise.

Yeah. Crazy shit. Kinda like the incidents up on Siachen Glacier... Like the avy a few years ago that took out 100+. Permanent military above 6,000m = end up dying because of weather not fighting.
