I was lucky enough to recently spend a couple of weeks on the big island with a short trip to Oahu thrown in. Here's a few shots from the trip.

I'm heading to the Big Island in June.... any must-do recommendations for hiking and/or photography? We're staying outside of Kona for a week, and then a few days up in Waipio.

^ you can hike in or there's also kayak tours there. the snorkeling was excellent and there wasn't many people there

^ awesome black sand beach that we had to ourselves. cracked open fresh coconuts and snorkeled here.

scuba diving at night with Manta Rays. Not sure if you are into diving or not but this was probably the highlight of the trip, lots of places out of Kailua offer this.

not this trip but the last time I was there we took a heli ride from Hilo. We were flown south to the volcano area and go to see lava flowing into the sea. This was pretty amazing and offered lots of photo ops. Kind of spendy but really cool. There's some footage from the heli ride here:

Nice shots! Headed to Kauai tomorrow...stoked to get the surf on amid a winter that never was.
