why is it irrational? you could get hurt, lose your job due to the injury, become homeless....
haha, sorry. i dont know what youre so worried about though, i just watched back in the saddle again, and that stuff looks easy.
I've stacked it on that drop at I-street and it didn't hurt that much. If that helps any... It was honestly easier to hit it the second time (about 2 minutes after the wreck) because it had turned into "It would suck if I wreck" vs. "I'm going to die". And then I went faster and it was easy. Just remember to look where you're going when you come up the other side. ;)
We need to build some jumps and drops somewhere like I've seen pics of up at Whistler where we'd have some progressively larger drops to practice on.

Jay, I remember seeing you do about a 3' drop on the Porcupine trail last fall and you had no problems.
Just sack up and go you freaking pooner! Then you'll kick yourself in the nuts for not doing it years ago cause its so fun and fairly easy.
biting it makes for some good stories to tell too... then again so does landing...crap.
Feeling much better. Hit a 4-footer at I-Street today and yeah, it was pretty easy. Now I've gotta refinish our fence. Huzzah.
You talking about the wooden ramp drop? I looked at it a bit today, but pussed out on the hardtail. I'm gonna wait 'til the big bike arrives to hit it I think.
The other drop looks awfully hairy. I watched a guy do it today, and the drop looks okay, but the step up is frickin' huge. He got over, but just barely...he landed on his bashring and had to push over it.
The drop I'm talking about is kind of off by itself. If you're coming into the jumps, it's near the end off to the right, up on the side of the gulley. There's a drop you have to ride through the grass to get to, then a little double.Quote:

Then there's a rickety ramp ladder that's like 2 feet high just kinda sitting in the middle of an inrun. You can tell it's quality by the electrical tape holding one of the rungs on.
That drop to stepup has been rebuilt. Pretty nuts. Saturday there were about 12 people killing it. 3s, no footers, etc. 12-year-olds who still had their girl voices, sending it. Little fuckers.
We should head up there Wed. If it rains things should be pretty sweet.

I'm stoked to see that drop you hit J. Don't know that I've seen that one. I saw that dinky little ramp on the in-run across the way you're talking about...yucky.
Some of the stuff up there is just dumb (bad construction, not set up correctly at all). If you remember, I dropped the large ladder and then thought hitting the crappy double at the bottom was a good idea. Severely sprained ankle which led to using clipless pedals in a NASTY Durango DH which led to torn MCL, fractured tib-plateau, wrecked hamstring, elbow and more ankle issues. I would say hit what is comfortable and work your way up. One thing that really helps is to follow someone who is really good. I got on the ass of one of our racing buddies who full on RIPS (he pre-ran the Rampage!!!!); it was kinda scary at first (what if he biffs???) but it really helped. He got me up to the proper speed and gave me a lot of confidence. Let's get CS in town and make him do stuff so we can copy.... :biggrin:

bagtagley was scared of the smaller dirt drop, now he's hittin the 10' drop like it's nuthin.
frizzo killed the ladder drop and now uses it for warmup.
I'm hitting the gully step-up finally (altho not too well yet).
pretty cool to see where we were/where we are. now frizzo just needs to get over the dirt drop and prevent a 'fully gat summer' ;)
