that's not WINNING !!!!
Straight up. I'm staying inside all day tomorrow.
Pinner has earned his couch time this week.
let's see:
whiteout conditions, lot's of snow, cold air = light pow....hmmm, what the hell else could you ask for???? :D
I'm still going. Who else is in?
i'm in !
7:30 at the pa taro dack tile lot.
I'm bringing my shovel in case we feel like building a hit. :D
-8 up on the summit right now! woooo hoooo.:D
MD9, see ya in the morn
nice ! I think were gonna have some fun !
The longer I've been inside the more I'm changing my mind! The other reason I wasn't going to go was because I couldn't get some trekkers/skins today. Will I be slowing you guys down to much if I'm walking the whole day?
You won't slow us down. I haven't even used my gear before. I'm sure I'll manage to screw it up.
I might be there for a bit. If you see a chick with a truck that looks way too big for her (Chevy Duramax), thats me...I might take a friend with very limited backcountry experience up, so we'll probably just do a couple laps on the west side.

That truck had ALL the little boys at Silverton drooling. None of em came right out and said it, so I did: "A girl in a truck like that? That's sexy as hell."
I was sabotaged!!! I changed my mind last night and decided to go to Berthoud this morning. I talked to MD9 and plans were set. The alarm was set for 6:25 and I was stoked. The girlfriend who sleeps next to the alarm must have not been as stoked as me. When the alarm went off she looked at it, couldn't figure out why in the hell it would be going off at 6 in the morning on a Sunday and promptly turned it off. My Kramer-esque mental alarm failed me as well and I didn't wake up until 7:30 (when we were supposed to meet). Realizing I had to be at work in Boulder by 4:00 I knew that my plans were already shot...Maybe next week???
Of course after my bitching about how cold and snowy it would be today it's actually sunny and beautiful. Oh well, back to homework...
no worries, it was cold as all get out at loveland. Patroller told me they closed one chair cause the wind chill was -50F.
shitter that was cold, at least i got to demo skis and see what they are like on ice!!
Berthoud was like antartica today!! Fackin' COLD and WINDY! Not sure what the temp was up there today, but it was brutal.
Bootpacked and skied 3 runs with Board, Billow, and MD9. Fogger was up there mingling about, running shuttles, etc.
Not exactly quality snow conditions too. Sure there were the occasional 4 foot wind buffs, but for the most part still thin snowpack.
Search and Rescue was up there looking for a party of 3. Twenty year olds, not familiar with the area, got lost and spent the night somewhere up on the pass:eek: . They ended up finding the kids early afternoon. Not too sure on the details. d
Enough of that...you're making me blush :rolleyes:Quote:

After towing some dumb guys from North Carolina out of a snowbank on the pass we made it up for a few laps this afternoon. It wasn't too bad when we were moving, but standing still waiting for my out-of-shape, backcountry JONG friend was sorta painful. We stuck to the west side. It could definately use some more snow, but it was still fun to get out and make some turns...Sorry I missed you guys. Maybe next week?
East side had much better snow, but still a little thin. Next week it is. Looking at Wednesday, Sat, Sun....Quote:

Wednesday works for me! I'm not sure about Sat and Sun though... I might decide I've had enough of this state by then:)
Great. Send me an email about wednesday:Quote:

Were you guys up there Saturday or Sunday? I was up there on Saturday skiing on the west side and the place was deserted. There was some new on top of a good crust layer. We just did one run as the lure of the crown royal back in the car proved too much for my Dad. Not a bad 1st run of the year though. Total whiteout conditions driving back down to WP.
iskibc, where about on the east side did you find good snow?
exactly, BP on Sunday was a LOT more bearable than AB on Saturday. I was out putting up flagging for a couple hours on saturday and I was just about falling over trying to keep myself from turning into a giant icicle. I kept jumping around, I think they thought I was on something.Quote:

Sunday was ass cold as well but definitely better when you're skinning! That was my first time at BP, I had no idea where the hell I was skiing, but we dug a snowpit and it looked allright. It defintiely sucks when the base is the ground though, I took a couple nasty boulder hits and stuck my tip through a tree root and took a nice digger. Once I somewhat learned how to ski the shit though, I got a couple good faceshots. :D :D
The jet lag/altitude was KILLING me- 5 months at sea level did bad things to my lungs! I felt like a pussy having to stop skinning every 20 feet and not being able to ski an entire run without stopping to recover- oh well, hopefully my lungs will return to their normal state quickly. :D
I was there both days but our group ( me,billow, meat and iskibc ) went on sunday.Quote:

as far as the east side. We hit the trees below gate 3. it is in better shape ( in general ) than most of the stuff in Current Creek.
