Hell yeah!!!! Love surf fishing!!!
my freezer likes surf fishing
Can you get me a better picture of your front bumper set up? Looking to do that, but I can't have my airflow too blocked on my old ass Jeep. Needs to breathe.
I am looking to do a trip out there maybe next year, maybe this spring. Before / after busy season. I want to tow the Jeep up. Where can you drive on the beach? I am toying with renting a place up on the 4X4 beaches. I would need to park the Yukon and trailer though.
Attachment 160083that rod/cooler holder on the tj came from www.plattinumproducts.com
i also put a front receiver hitch on the jeep from curt...
you can drive on the beaches north of corolla without a permit..thats the area that most people call the 4x4 area.
your yukon would make it to a house up there with the trailer...just air down and stay on the beach, don't test the holes
on the roads/paths back in the dunes between the houses..
bad thing about up there is the beach kinda turns into a highway..not like that down in ocracoke
on hatteras and ocracoke islands you need a orv permit from the nps...weekly or yearly permits..
theres alot of beach to explore by 4x4, always a place with a crowd and always lots of places to get away from the crowd.
i do the ocracoke thing at least once a month sept.-may..
place is abandoned in the winter..i can have the truck camper on the beach 24 hours a day and not see another truck for days.
not like that rest of year.
read up on portsmouth island and cape lookout areas...alot more remote than north islands
Slayfest
and december
nice rig
sjw - thanks for sharing those pics. That place is really special, looks like you had great fishing. that cooler shot of pompano and flounder looks tasty!
May and September have been two of my favorite months to visit - perhaps we've crossed paths out there. this is my rig:

i hit the place up pretty often in the off season...too many bugs, too hot, and too many people in june, july, and august..
right now is the time..nobody around..fishing slows down this time of year though.
i keep my camper at the campground behind the gas station...saves on gas if i am taking the camper out on the beach..
.i make the drive to the swanquarter ferry in about 5 hours, if i need bait i usually go
through hatteras and thats like 7 hours from my house..
half the time i end up taking my jeep down and just crash at the camper
that sounds awesome - I was there in june in '14, spent two weeks in May '13 and previous two years did September trips. The June trip wasn't as bad as I thought it'd be crowd wise, did get pulled by a state trooper coming off the air-strip ramp for not wearing a seatbelt, just sorta shook my head and rolled my eyes.
I didn't have the dough for it, but the gulf stream trips were really going off with some nice catches. We usually stay at Edwards, good folks there.
I've heard not much stays open through winter, does Tradewinds B&T stay open?
no.... alan closes in the fall until it gets warm in march..
can usually track down someone to unlock the door if you need tackle...
no fresh bait from tradewinds until spring...i bring what i need and don't plan on him being open.
