I have not tried, but would imagine a cheese, or alfredo sauce would be rather delicious too.
cook up the cous cous, then pour the sauce and cous in a sauce pan until the sauce just starts to boil. Remove from heat, grab spoon, chow down.
Caution:
DO NOT ADD TOBASCO TO TOMATO SAUCE AND MIX WITH RAMEN NOODLES!
It creates dogfood.
And, never boil garbanzo beans with curry powder in hopes of making chana masala - it doesn't work. I should have added coconut milk, but at the time, I was cheap, and thought - "Hey, I have garbanzo beans and curry powder - I can make that dish I always order at the Indian restaurant, cool!" Not so. Needed: actual recipe for chana masala. :)
Chana Masala
Start by frying in a little oil:
Chopped onions
Crushed garlic and ginger (root)
Curry leaves (torn once)
Fresh thyme
1 tsp mustard or onion seeds
When starting the seeds start to pop, sprinkle in a good curry powder (couple of table spoons) or if you want to make your own: 1 tbsp ground cumin; 1 tbsp ground coriander;1 tsp ground tumeric; 1 tsp Garam Masala (1/2 tsp amchoor or ground mango powder if you can get it)
Once the curry powder has absorbed the oil add 2 cans of chick peas (or some pre-soaked over night if you have dried ones).
Then add a can of chopped tomatoes and 2 cups of water.
Bring to the boil then simmer. While simmering add a tbsp coconut cream, salt, chopped fresh coriander and chopped green chillies if you like the heat.
Cook for 20-30 minutes (till chick peas are soft and sauce thickens). Should serve 4.
Oooh, I feel hungry just thinking about it. Also one of my favourite curries. My mum's recipe BTW.
Wow, that sounds delicious! Thanks Mrs. Roo, I will have to make this.

Quick, dumb question. Is the 1/2 tsp amchoor or ground mango powder in addition to the rest or is it instead of the Garam Masala?Quote:
