Bro Owners?

Have you got your PM gear story down pat yet? Holy crap, I've never had anything on my feet that illicited so many questions.

As much as I know this will totally characterize myself as a gaper I went up to Deer Valley today. Every lift ride I had the questions fired at me, "What are they?", "Who makes them?", etc. The capper on the day was while riding back to the parking lot on one of the trailers an older gentleman asked me with total seriousness, "Are those jump skis?"

On another note, I have now found the best Utah resort to be at on a powder/semi powder day. The vast majority of the clientele at Deer Valley either stands around near the lodges or skis the groomers. Anything involving a hike or traverse eliminates 98 percent of the people on the mountain. I was also quite surprised at the terrain, anyone who says Deer Valley doesn't have some interesting terrain has never been there. Most of the resort is indeed groomed cruisers, but there are little pockets of fun to be found.

Granted, it ain't got the goods like Alta and Snowbird, but the place ain't bad.

I got so tired with the never-ending questions on EACH chair ride who made my Kahunas (despite the small 'K2' logo up near the tips), that I slapped BIG red-white-and-blue K2 stickers on them. That shoud shut them up, although I'll probably still hear "which skis are those? I didn't know K2 made them", since anything besides an Axis mod X or Apache Recon is stellar ground-breaking design. :rolleyes:

A guy was walking through the tram deck at Snowbird yesterday with Bro's (don't know who he was but he ripped) and somebody asked him "What are those skis?". He yelled back " The most fun ski I have ever skied!".

Pretty cool, can't wait for mine to get here. :D

i know exactly where that is at deer valley... its a pretty sweet cornice drop and yes no one there goes off trail really

Skiing single on the Bros is the hardest because you're always on the chair with strangers. I get the questions too, but when I explain that I'm an owner of the company, I get drawn into even longer conversations. It's a lot of fun. Honestly, I think some people think that I'm full of shit.

A little girl said something interesting to me not long ago. She said "Either those skis are really old, or they're really new." Not sure what that means, but I like it. The Bros are timeless.

it was either eon or drew. jake gave his set up and i don't think i've seen anyone else at teh bird with them.

Yep Bob. I have had a lot of people comment and ask questions. Lots of people also tell me where else they have been spotted - a pair in NYC, another at the Peruvian in Alta etc

It sure seems like the word is getting out there.

i ran into a dude in the lift line at hunt-ah yesterday who had seen a pair in aspen. he said his friend who sells corvettes in aspen? told him to "look for the ones with the airplane on the tips". seriously though, they sell themselves - especially after skiing with and talking to a bunch of people about them. i always laugh because when im skiing back here i get a lot of "wow, those are fat skis. bet you feel like you have the wrong skis out today eh?" - then they see the bros rail on the boilerplate and are very impressed.

thanks guys...it's always nice to hear these stories, especially when I can't get out on them yet myself to experience it first hand :cussing: .... (a little less then 2 months now though and I should have clearance to ski)...

...anyway, as you know it's been a tough year for us getting these skis made and out the door, but it has been a learning experience and hopefully somethings that are in motion now will come to fruition (keep yer fingers and toes crossed) and we'll be able to capitalize on the buzz that's been created this year.

I got my first experience on Bro's last Friday at Mary Jane with them reporting 12" of fluffy goodness. The one cool thing was that it outted a maggot that saw me skiing them (pow-wrangler), got lots of questions, couple of "Brooooo"[\surfer voice] call outs in line.

Even got into a lengthy conversation when i was riding the single line, how i know some guys that started the company, that i got to test the pre-production models up at Mt. Hood during the summer, one of my friends designed the topsheet. They kept asking questions, I kept answering.

Then they asked me "what the hell do it do to do all this and know these people?" which cracked me up.

I told them i am a "professional dick waver"

But the hell with the inane conversations, the skis were a ton of fun, still kinda slow on the flats and cat tracks even with 4 coats of wax on them. But tons of fun in the pow.

its always fun getting in the singles line with the bro's. Tons of questions all the time. The 'trollers at saddleback were ogling them too, especially after I took the ski off and let them feel the weight of it. Always get "isn't that a little bit big for you" comments.

Heh, know what you mean here. Being of less than huge proportions myself, people always are asking why I'm skiing such a "big ski". or How does that ski carve? I'm going to record a canned messge and just play it back to answer all those questions.

This is kind of a gay idea, but maybe it could be worked on- if you guys are really generating all this talk on lifts, it would be nice for bro-riders to have some sort of pmgear/bromodel card they could give people.

"What are those?"
"They're the Bro Model... etc... here, if you want to find out some more you can check out this card..." it would have a phone number and web address on it. Turn the buzz in to marketing.
