adjusting forward pressure on Tyrolia bindings?

Does anyone know how to adjust the forward pressure on Tyrolia bindings? I've never really had a problem with Rossi's, Atomics, or Markers, but the Tyrolia forward pressure indicator is a totally different design. Any advice? Also, any idea how much they can be adjusted? They are mounted for a 307 boot sole, and my boot is a 315. Most Tyrolias are adjusted for length using a tab on the heel; the procedure is much like the Salomon 914/912 heel.

Insert a large slot screw driver under the tab and twist. Move the heel and lock down in the new location. To verify forward pressure, click the boot in and look at the adjustment tab. On the tab, there should be several scribed lines. With the boot in the binding, the edge of the housing should line up in the region indicated by the scribed lines.

Edit: my bad, didn't fully read your post. Track length on Tyrolias is fairly long, in general. I would guess that the 8mm you need is likely possible without a remount.

So I'm dredging up this old thread because I need some info. I may be purchasing a ski with a mojo 15 on it set to 315mm boot. My boots are 304mm, think there is any chance I can get by without remounting?

I would love to hear some input on the possibility of this working. Thanks in advance.

You should be able to if it was actually drilled for a 315 boot. The Tyrolia tracks are fairly long. My boots are 304mm and I was able to get my boots into a pair drilled for someone's size 28 or 29 boots.

They'll definitely ski differently. Try it out and if you don't like it you can always redrill.

The current mount will put you forward half the difference. So 11mm is the difference forward putting your toe forward 5.5mm forward or 1/2 a centimeter or ~7/32 of an inch. Ski them like suggested. You could just remount the toe and leave the heel. If mounted per the jig the Tyrolia heel is near the forward end of the adjustment (heel is toward the forward end of the track) so going back is easier than going forward so coming foward 11 mm on the heel will likely put it at the very end of the foward motion. As I recall the track length is 30mm on a consumer version.

Bumping this old thread with a question.

I mounted up some skis (187 GPOs, hell yeah) recently with Tyrolia Peak 15 bindings. Mounted with the jigarex. Mount is solid.

But I've got a question about the forward pressure. As the skis are mounted, I'm kind of between forward pressure settings. The metal forward pressure indicator tab (the same tab used to move the bindings on the track) has 6 scribed lines and I understand that you are supposed to be somewhere between these 6 lines when the boot is clicked in.

So at one end of the forward pressure adjustment (a little less forward pressure), there is only 1 line ahead of my mark. So technically it's within spec but just barely (a little on the loose side for forward pressure). When I move the heel of the binding 1 tab forward on the adjustment track to give it more forward pressure, there is only 1 line left behind my mark with the boot clicked in. So again technically within spec but just barely (on the tight side). I can't get it in the middle of the 6 scribed lines as it's mounted now.

So where should I set these? I'm leaning towads the tighter side (more forward pressure) given that a lot of folks here say these bindings are sensitive to forward pressure and need a bit more to prevent pre-release.

Edited 1/10/14 to add: I had these release tested on the tighter setting and everything was fine. Maybe this will be useful to someone in the future with this issue.

From my experience, more forward pressure is better than less.

Anecdotally, Tyrolia bindings benefit from tighter RFP when in doubt.

Theoretically, you could machine test for release, but in all likelihood you're fine either way.

These are the same as the Fischer bindings right? I had a pair and didn't set the forward pressure correctly. Ski pre-released at speed and I crashed into a snowmaking tower. Mad damage to both knees.

Double check and agree that the more forward pressure the better.

I have the Peak 15 on three sets of skis. I usually go on the lighter side, and have never had a pre-release.

Mo pressure, no problems.

What others said: on Tyrolias, more forward pressure is better than less, assuming both possibilities are within spec.

(Caveat: I don't know if this is true with the Adrenalin or the bindings derived from it.)
