Cancer Survivor(s), talk to me about whats gonna happen......

So i went in for my annual about 6 weeks ago. They found a mass on one of my balls. After the ultrasound, and 2 surgical consults, lefty got yanked out 2 weeks ago. It was determined to be cancerous, which caused lots of tears between my self and Mrs Escobar. Then the next level brought some other good news it that the cancer had to metasticized. So thats good. But goddam I have a hematoma the size of a golfball where lefty used to be. Thats gonna get drained in the next couple weeks.....

How bad is that gonna hurt.....

Also, I am not supposed to do any workouts for a while, and shit it hurts to get up from the couch. The scar isn't even that cool.

Should I write off the early season until Jan/Feb, and just focus on working out/regaining flexibilty ?

To make matters worse, I found out after my surgery that one of my oldest trader friends had died from breast cancer in her late 40's. She left 2 kids.

Anyone been down the testicular cancer route ? I've already gained like 8 lbs, and it sucks to not be able to work out.... Of course things could be way way worse......

And everyone else, make sure your annual involves an inspection down there. I had not felt anything out of order myself.....

There are several types of testicular CA with very different behavior.
As far as working out--was there surgery inside the abdomen or just removal of the testicle through the incision in the lower part of the abdomen? You might discuss the details of the surgical incision with your urologist and see if you can't get him or her allow at least aerobic exercise sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry to read this news. I'm glad you caught it early.

I had a hernia repaired years ago and had a lot of bleeding post surgery (im a bleeder). My bag was the size of a grapefruit. I went to the ED in tremendous pain and ended up getting my waddle ...tapped. Yes, the surgeon tapped my scrotum with what seemed to be a very large needle.

It was 2 minutes of panic followed by tremendous relief. Once the pressure was reduced the pain nearly disappeared. By the way, before that day I did not know a septum separates the L and R sides of the sack.

The pain went away but the embarassment stayed. I had it tapped at a teaching hospital and a rotation of residents came through to watch the urologist do the exam and tap the keg. 2 of the residents were smoking hot. It was a humbling moment in time.

Good luck with the tapping, it did not hurt at all.

Yeah--a golf-ball sized hematoma doesn't impress me. Grapefruit size does.
BTW--assuming there is a scar going across the very lower abdomen on the side of the surgery, in a year it should be very hard to see. Sometimes you can't see them when you're looking for them.

Lots of info here, I was "fortunate" enough not to have the big C. I think 6 weeks I was back on my bike, would have gone skiing but it was may, and full recovery in 3 months. Good luck, and very good you got it early.

Bro-in-law had it; he said it felt like a leech on one of his balls, not firm at all.

I had it, what's next for you? Hard to say, I'm in Canada so shit was all free. The incision healed up in 6 or so weeks, started working out slowly after that. Core was shot due to the location of the cut so had to take it slow recovering. About 2 months after surgery I had to do radiation treatments for 3 weeks. First week was fine, second and third got worse. My stomach skin was red and irritated and my stomach lining was burnt and made eating shitty and felt pretty sick. Once radiation was complete I rebounded super fast. Been 5 years now with no issues... had routine checkups every 6 months for 3 years consisting of CT, bloodwork, dropping trow for the radiologist....

Oh and banked swimmers before radiation... that shit was interesting. Never needed them, knocked the wife up first try... may be a uniballer but that just makes shit that much more concentrated.

It was a fucked up humbling experience, one that I constantly joke about, helps me deal. Makes for a great party trick whipping out the single too.

For those asking what the tumor felt like... for me it was one hard ball... no pain, just hard.
