Anyone have an accurate idea of the angle of slope on say... the top 1/3 of Eddies and Hi Rus? I would guess about 45deg.??? But I really don't have any frame of reference, hence the question.
Please no Donny references.

This will give a very accurate frame of reference...

Sorry, I'm bored waiting for the snow to fall...
Definitely a usefull tool but $100 for something that is virtually useless to me in-bounds.
Yes in deed... more snow please.
Print this out and put it in your pocket. The price is so right, you'll get change for a nickel.
Nice protractor Splat. I have already enlarged it, printed it out, laminated it, and attached a lanyard to it! I'm now going to attach it to my 1-piece along with all my ski passes since 1985. Yesssssssss... this is going to be sweet! You da man Splat. ;)
:D :D :D
My slide rule keeps poking me in the balls. :(
This is measured at 62 degrees.

That's funny, my balls keep dulling the edge of my slide rule.Quote:

Sometimes it's better to keep parts of your cd collection to yourself.
It is a good thing you weren't really looking for information here today...
Thanks Trackhead. FYI-that's the only documented image in existence of the illusive Underwear Gnomes(LCC Chapter). This little fucker was trying to gain access through the chimney via the icicle outside my window.Quote:

You're probably thinking... why don't I scope it out myself, right? Well I attempted. Here's what went down.
(TR)
I hit the mountain at 0900 hoping to get first chair on Sunnyside but a group of 5 year olds beat me to the punch. I scoped out Vail Ridge (the steep gnar gnar off the right about 2/3 the way up the lift) the day before and spotted some 3 week old freshness between two other lines. I figured I could gun it and beat the five year olds to the sweatness. I could see it in there I eyes, we were after the same glory! On the way up just to make sure I was ready, I slammed my Red Bull and Nature Valley granola bar that I got from the Warren Miller show a few months ago.
Refreshed and ready to go I did a quick check to make sure my protractor, slide rule, and 12" bubble level were secured to my side. Good to go! The plan was, after I shred this sweet line between those two other lines I was going to get the beta on the steepness of Eddies from the Sugarloaf lift at approximately tower 11. I wasn't about to waist my time getting all surveyorish on the mountain, there was too much freshness to be gotten in the trees under Secret lift.
Anyway, there I am at the top of Sunnyside. The five year olds beat me to the top by about 8 seconds, because they were in the chair infront of me and that's how long it takes between chairs. There we were... I made eye contact with the leader of the five year olds while I was doing my mandatory 1st run hipflexer stretches while they were stuffing there faces with bubbleyum. Oh ya, it was on! We all start bee-lining for the ridge line when out of nowhere those little fuckers setup up some type of blocking pattern from the likes of of which I have never seen before. With cat like reflexes I stunted to the right then quickly shot to the left just squeeking by their left flank untouched. I get to the ridge first and am about to dive in when...holy shit, it's roped off!
Fuck it... I ducked the rope and I must say, it was well worth it! There wasn't much to be had between the two lines but I tore it up like a rockstar. Those 3 turns were some of the best I've ever had!
Well, to get to the point of the story here's what happened next and why I couldn't complete my surveying mission.
Apparently, Johnny-do-good patroller watched the whole thing go down. He caught up to me just as I was about to hit that sweet jump just before the Albion grill... "hey", he said... "what do you want Johnny", I said. I saw you duck that rope. Well anyway, he clipped my protractor so here I am. I tell you what though... it was well worth it! SOME SHIT BE GOTTEN THIS DAY! K-CAW!
Sorry, man. That was the last protractor. Shoulda asked the five-year-olds for an inclinometer.
They're really tech these days with the blocking patterns and gear and stuff.
Here's a good rule of thumb: It's always way less than you think.Quote:

Creating the anticipation of a bottomless day, from crusty RedBull/ granola bar breakfast through hip Flexons, then bravely beating a pack of feral grommets off the traverse, skiing it blind and wild, only to find your proud self suddenly a fugitive Altapoacher with a clipped protractor.
JOTM, fer suuure.
