what is a proper pie crust?

this question may sound COMPLETELY retarded-but what is the composition of a good pie crust?

we are having a wager in math and cooking on who can make the best crust-since it is pie day-3/14.

anyway, does a good pie crust break apart easy or does it stick together? i know certain ones break apart, but is that for only that type of pie?

Do you mean before or after it's cooked? I'd say the crust should stick together when it's raw, and break apart after it's cooked. If it stuck together after it was cooked, that would suck. And if it broke apart before it was cooked, it wouldn't be a pie it would be a crumble, in which case the ingredients would be different.
But I'm no pie expert.

I'd like a pie crust made out of cookie dough, that actully sounds great, I may try that

half butter/half crisco. That's the trick for cookies and pie crust. Butter gives the flavor, lard gives the texture.
