Build me a Solid Wood Bedframe
Looking to have a solid wood bedframe built (King/Cal King). I've been looking at lots of stuff and found a craftsman in Maine that makes the below bed. The one in the pic is Black Walnut with a Zebrawood headboard. Any thoughts on the structural design or the types of wood I should be using? He can do it for about $500 less if I go with Cherry, Oak, etc. What do you think is a fair price for this with the Walnut and Zebrawood?
What do you think about the bolts showing on the outside, should he be capping them with a piece of wood or using a better technique to hide the bolt? Supports for the platform will consist of 3 in laminated joists and MDF on the top. Mattress will sit on MDF.
Are there any Mags that think they can top this? Looking for a straightforward platform bed using durable and good looking wood. Want it to be something that's passed on after I use it for 50 years. Shit must be solid!
I was gonna double up with Iceman on the dining room table but I'm not sure how long the dining room table will stick around if I remodel dining room/kitchen.
