Rossi Sickbird

Hey all, I saw a couple referrences to this ski... (Awkkk, Rossi!)

Was able to fondle a pair of 185s. Dimensions: 128-98-122. A slightly turned up tail, moreso than the explosives of Wizzard past, wider 360 wrapped edges (although they meet at the tip with a slight gap...) and old 1970s looking graphics to boot. Reminded me of the old Rossi ST, stale orange and black. Tapered sidewalls and the retun of the 'rooster.'

Interesting note, they are "Made in Spain" supposedly with a fiberglass layer/wood/foam combination.

They seemed fairly stiff, but the guys who tried em out said they skiied soft.

Anyone try these out?

I was wondering about these. I saw a pair at the Wood last week. Cool looking ski. The name was sort of a throwback for them also. I have a super old pair of Rossi Sunbirds sitting in the garage.

Interesting sidecut and a wide tail at 122 with a 128 tip.

The Sickbird is part of the new Tele lineup from Rossignol and is basically the tele version of the new Scratch BC. According to the Rossi rep in a video over at ttips it`s "basically our Scratch BC alpine ski" and it is supposed to have the same flex etc as the BC. Supposedly the only thing separating it from the BC being the graphics. (And the tail I would pressume, the BC being a backcountry jibstick I would think that it had a bit more than a "slightly turned up tail").
I think Rossi makes lots of their stuff in Spain. At least all of their Scratch line is made there.

I saw the SB at the demo at snowbasin, its a good looking twig. I also Skied next years, Scratch BC and was very very impressed. Its stiffer fatter and a better ski All over the mountain in my opinion.

I saw a pair of Squads at Targhee with Freerides mounted up. Belong to anyone?

Dylan Crossman was on a pair at the Alpine Meadows Tele Comp the other weekend which he won. they definitely looked cool with a retro sort of graphics. if the skis would make me rip like he does, i would definitely get a pair. ;)

Tried them at the OR demo out in Brighton.

Good ski. Rips. Relatively soft but not a noddle. Yes it is basically a Scratch BC. One of my favorite east coast tele skis is still a Scratch FS.

Made in Spain just like all of the Rossi skis now. Cheaper than France. Hey at least it's not China.

My personal preference is the new Karhu Team Edition Jaks.

Really nice skis. Basically a Line Prophet 100, tele version.

hmmm, so the sickbird is the new tele version.
a friend would sell it to me cheap, he says cou can use it for alpine skiing the same (i don´t ski telemark). don´t know what they changed for the telemark version....maybe it´s just a softer flex/tip. ?
guess i discuss the price first :)

Rossignol's snowboard factory is located in Artès, Spain. When they introduced the Scratch line I think one of the selling points was that they were made "by the people who design our snowboards".

back in the day we always said that their foam skis were made in France, wood in Spain. Maybe bullshit, but lots of customers 'bought it'.
