Wanna Trade? Iggy FaGS for ????

Gulp- Okay, I've been kicking this idea around for a while.

I am tentatively interested in acquiring an alpine bondage rig. Terms = trade even across my sticks/bindings (details below) plus shipping for your sticks/bindings plus shipping.

My Trade: 195 Iggy FaGS 116-88-104 235 ra flex, vertabrates graphic with linkens (drilled once for G3s, once for linkens).

Sadly, these sit squarely in an unused spot in my quiver that is overlapped between my arnos and my BDs. Skis are in fine but well used shape, couple of very small (well repaired) core shots, lots of general dings and a shitty ass lemon boy hometune (I'm not that particular about tunes, fill the holes, sharpen edges, ugly wax-job = ready to ski) No edge damage. These are the skis that propelled me to super stardom ( :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: ) in the telemark world.

I know enough to know these aren't gonna be good alpine skis for a punter like me. They are really great skis just redundant and burly for me right now.

Your Trade:??? Pretty wide open I guess. I'd like something with a little more sidecut than the FaGS and something a little shorter probably (although I certainly wouldn't rule out something big if it was just right either). Must be 84mm or greater, must be longer than 175. Will consider freerides but not markers for bindings. Unwilling to consider Bandits (hated those skis) unless they happen to have an ahem....wood core. Don't say pocket rocket either.

Basically, for a while I'm gonna suck at it and then I'll be pretty good at it. [let the heckling commence :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: ]

Give you some 190 Explosivs with the cool do it yourself tail "reattachment" kit and some old Salomon 997 9-14 din binders (but they are all metal). That should set you up nicely for alpining :nonono2:

yyeeeeeaaaaahhhh or not. those are the only skis I can think of that I liked less than the "soft core pornos" :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :rolleyes: :the_finge :the_finge :the_finge

But Explosivs are the best, everyone says so :D Actually they are better as alpine skis, although they still do kind of suck :confused:

yeah. I'd rather try to alpine on the FaGS than those I think... you gotta remember that I gots no skillz with da heelz.

i have some chubb's that are in really nice shape (180 i think) and i live in denver........

edit: i would really like something smaller and softer than my 200cm ffl 260#'s... PM me, and we can try to work something.

Sorry man, I don't think that chubbs are gonna do it, what bindings? Maybe, I'm not exactly electrified...

MT- It will be a long time before I can field a real alpine setup, I have no boots at all (hmm I bet I could find some AT boots though, I have more connections that direction).

I didn't hear you saying that you are SELLING OUT!!! Not that I can really talk :redface: (and I don't remember you saying you'll only ever tele)... How would a pair of undrilled 2006 Big Daddies sound. ;) :D

I have skis you might like. Feel like coming to Europe to get them?

Edit: not a trade but are those Tankers that Rev or Cletus or someone was selling still available? Might be worth a look. IMO It is worth dropping the $$ or some really good binders (unless you can get them without dropping the $$, obviously). Backcountry have the green spring Looks at a fantastic price right now - less than half the cost of anywhere over here (and here is where they're made). I speak as one who is carrying a cast due to having used sub-standard binders (Tyrolia)

How about a pair of 180cm Atomic Powder Plusses with Salomon Binders? I'll throw in a pair of KevGloves too and maybe some cash. :D

I don't think I'll be coming to Yurp for em but I would consider shipping mine there and having you send them back via the HOP train....I shamefully admit to already seeing if I could get some offa telepath for them, I'm already on his old arnos. You could make that kid very jealous with my skis (and next year trading him ;) ).

they are mounted with marker demo's that i can pull and replace w/ some 14DIN 997's... i also have access to some XL diamir's if you have a big foot... new in box t3's but they would cost extra

don;t really have anything else to offer, well maybe some rossi mega bangs (aka xxx) in a 185, but i know you are anti those.......

why not just mount the iggys with heels? If you can tele then you can alpine them in a few days too.

Not to hijack this thread, but I dont agree with this statement. I have skied a lot of skis that I feel I really like as teles (m103s) come to mind, but I am not sure I would like them alpining. It is such a different turn and you use totally different parts of the ski. That is the same reason I love Ak Rockets for alpining, but they were WAY too soft in the tail for teleing.

Why are you afraid of heeling on the Iggys? That seems very silly to me (then again, consider the source).

I´d offer to take anything back with me, but you had better be ready to chip in for another ski bag and some $$$ for the extra weight baggage charges! My DaKine Concourse Double is literally bursting at the seams with 3 pairs of skis and related ski crap.

Well Ace, there is a big difference between a set of 195 Iggs and some 180 Vex's. ;) :D And I'm not per se afraid, more I don't need a ski that is such a gun for alpining.

Just carry the BD's on. Shouldn't be a problem.

that may be, but then again nobody´s making that jump! I went from tele to 190 Exploders to 185 PR´s and am currently on 189 HS. You´re the one going teleing on a 194 Arno and a 193 BD and pussing out over some relatively soft 195 FaGS. Buck up little camper.

The FaGS are more of a handful than the Arnos and the BDs put together.

Both the arnos and the bds are supremely user friendly and won't kick your ass for nothing. The FaGS on the other hand will serve you upside the head.

No, I don't want to trade, neither should you ....

I'd also question this logic. If you can rip tele on any given ski, my logic follows like this:

a) The alpine connection to the ski is so much stronger, you get power galore if you are used to tele

b) Those Iggys sound stiff, but then you get more power than tele allows

c) Even a stiff tele boot is relatively soft to a stiff alpine boot -> more power

d) If you have to ride something out you don't have to get backseat in a parallel stance to avoid an over the bars, and you don't burn up your quads maintaining a tele stance.

e) You can already rip the Iggy alpine, put on some alpine clamps and get ready to rip it up.

f) Finally, ski length is less of an issue in an alpine stance than tele.

So on every front alpining those boards should be easier. I wouldn't underestimate your skills from tele, given they are the real training wheels :-)

Yes, alpining is much more powerful, therefore you don't need as much ski. There's only a couple of skis that I'd feel uncomfortable teleing on but there are a lot that'll be too damn much for me alpining.

None of this probably makes sense to people who don't tele on guns. That said: if mulletizer can come through on some BDs I know I could handle them. ;)

I can't come through on any BDs unless you're there to defend my ass from Telepath because they are rightfully his skis (even if he has left them at my place for too long ;) ). That said - if the price is right I can fight him off ;)

Interesting what you are saying about big tele guns vs alpine skis. When I was teleing the ski I enjoyed most was the 190 Exploder with Linkens. Uber-surfy, mucho fun (and bear in mind I am not huge - maybe 5'9", 160). When I got my M103s (the 183) I was planning to mount them as a tele ski; I always thought I prefered a softer alpine than tele ski. You know the tele style: stand up and surf, especially if you have Linkens or Bishops - great with an uberstiff surfy tele ski but you wuld never be able to push the same ski through a bumpy turn on alpine when not "surfing". So I thought the M103s would be too much ski for me as a bondage ski.

Anyway, I took the M103s out on alpine - just to see what they are like. As I say, I really thought I wouldn't have the power for them on alpine. Funny thing was, I found I really liked them. I haven't put tele binders on them or on any other ski yet this winter. BTW These skis rule.

Moral: I really thought I would get ownerised on bigger, stiffer alpine skis, having come from 3 years of almost exclusively teleing (2 days bondage, c.200 days tele in 3 years). When I got on bigger, stiffer skis (although not the biggest or stiffest) I wasn't ownerised. I actually really enjoyed it. I would take those Iggys as alpine sticks and I'm secretly a weak pussy. Don't under-estimate your ability on them.

To help your quest (and help you avoid the Tyrolia binders that broke Mulletizers arm) I'll donate you a pair of Look TT9 (P18 style heel, outphased but rock solid toe, narrow brakes that can be bent/did so on the FFLs, 15DIN, yellow/red/black design, kinda used but technically sound) binders. Let me know before Sunday or Monday and I'll bring them to France for hop to carry across.

Spend the winter over stateside and I'll loan you a firearm to protect you from his crankiness... (provided you can met all of the relatively nominal requirements for legal possession thereof. <---- Hi Mr. Gonzales!)

But it looks like TP is offering up some fodder for the voracious ski gods to keep you from distributing out his skis (btw- you have email).

If these were the 185 FaGS, I wouldn't think twice about mounting them up. But, I look at my buddy on 200 SMFs (longer FaGS) who is a very strong skier and know that he gets beat up on those in certain conditions.
