May 2013 Lyngen/Tromso Beta and Partners thread

I'm going to be in the Tromso/Lyngen area for touring, sightseeing, and bank-breaking drinking from May 14 through May 18. I have zero partners and only marginally more beta ...

I would love to use this thread to collect information and recommendations about:

• Partners - anyone wanna tour? I'll be on a splitboard and will have glacier gear (and very little ice skills)
• Lodging - If Magic Mountain Lodge is good enough for Frandsson, it's probably good enough for me, but I'm sure there are other options
• Conditions - No idea what is going on out there, and there is probably only 1 guy in Norway who uses SnowPilot ...
• Routes - It can't hurt to ask - I'm not looking for second descent beta, just any recommendations for established routes and nice lines that won't piss off the locals, or websites etc
• Any other beta of relevance

I'll probably spend a day in Tromso, then a few days around Lygen, then a day back in Tromso. I'll have a rental car duing this time ... and then flying to Svalbard on 19 May for sick touring (woohoo thanks Doug Stoup).

Flying straight from LYR to OSL to head over to the Bergen International Festival from 28 May to 1 June before flying back to Los Estados Unidos! Who wants to get their party on?

no problem, man. ill try to partner up(at the very least hook you up with good people for when youre here), but the wife has her final exams during that month, and me going away for a couple of days will probably not be all that popular..;-) ill still try, though.

lots of touring possibilities around then, still, many not in need of glacier gear, but its probably smart to bring it for gnarlier ascents.

also shitloads of opportunities with short approaches within 25 minutes of driving from tromsø downtown. looking forward to it, whether i can participate actively or not.

I have partners for May 15, 16, and 17.

Staying in Tromso May 14 & 15, then Lyngen (Magic Mountain lodge) May 16 & 17, then Tromso again on May 18.

Leaving for Svalbard on May 19!!!!
