ah, spring.......
but not the upper east wall.
what good is that?
i was there wednesday and the patrollers didn't open it up, but put about 20 sets of tracks through it. All the good fresh lines were taken by wed.
East wall is for the patient extremo in-bounds beaters.....have fun with that, and good luck!!!
It's a step in the right direction.Quote:

As for in bounds beaters, seems like if you can hike up to the notches and then down climb and ski it decently you've got enough skills to do some spring corn bc skiing.
And spthompson skied it, told me this:
"It was just the traverse and below that they opened...I stopped by patrol, they said about another week on the hike-to stuff, which all loooked pretty juicy from the traverse. It skied pretty well...probably about 6 inches of sun-creamed pow on a pretty firm base."

huh, website says that northpole is still closed.
How is the coverage?
My last experience with the North pole right after it opened was not too good. Ended up having to sidestep down a few sections due to heavy amount of rocks (made my skis sad pandas)
Might check it out tommorow.
They didn't get it open till 11 AMish. Coverage up top sucked. Lots of rocks. Suprisingly only took one core shot. The bottom half I didn't hit anything, but the snow kinda sucked. Top layer was just breakin up and peelin in slabs. Wasn't a ton of people hiking it, but still got pretty tracked out. Maybe won't be as chunky.
even below the traverse had rocks lurking.
First time on the traverse, I was heading out all the way around, and this guy in front of me just yelps out and yardsales, right off the traverse. I go over to see if he's alright...basically, a little "hill" in the traverse, and hidden just on the other side of the "up" was a huge collection of rocks, right in the path of the traverse. Not good. Should be re-routed by now from people dropping below that spot...this was last Thurs when they first opened it.
Yep, it's horrible . No one should go there. Can we cart in more rocks to keep the wannabe gapers away?Quote:
