An open letter to Steve and Todd.

Keep your revenue monkey (dbt) on a SHORT leash in polyasshat. He is wandering from his cage and is smearing the rest of the forum with the feces clenched in his desperate hands.

While you gain revenue from political clicks that he draws, you also lose actual skiers, and your site that used to be the best SKI site on the web, gets dragged toward a retarted version of a pseudo politico website. I know 6 other skiers who used to.frequent tgr, and have quit for this very reason.

I have no problem with this. It's your site to run into the ground as you see fit.

But you can add a seventh skier/quitter to that list. I'm out.

Yes, I posted in polyasshat previously and passionately; and I kept it to polyasshat. Then I came to the realization that this is a ski webforum...its too bad you haven't done the same.

Biglines.com is a blank slate. Me and the rest of the mags who are sick of this decrepit site, can shape Biglines, and make it whatever we want...while we watch tgr turn into a money grabbing political site. I'll be over there, with several other mags, if anyone wants to talk skiing.

As I won't be using tgr for anything aside from sales/gear swapping from now on, I recognise that many of the mags will flame the shit out of me and this thread. Go ahead. Don't give a fuck.

I created the political forum to keep the shit housed. THEY took the decision to take it away from New Posts. You think they would do that if this was somehow a money grab? Get the fuck real man. know that i'm not, can't and won't speak for TGR's owners, but as an admin i'm a little confuserized here...

You've been around long enough to know that the polyass forum was created to localize political asshattery. Which seemed to work for a while. Then some people, including myself, whined effectively that the 'new posts' button kept bring that bullshit back up to the top. So the webgurus excluded it from the search.

So that single forum and topic has been excised about as far from the ski content as possible.

Seems to me the ski/board forum, given it's October, is still geared toward stoke. Padded Room still needs padding. Gear swap is off the hook.

There's one thread calling for DBT to be banned, and he posted in one thread in padded room which was dealt with accordingly. What are you actually asking for?

There's political stuff on this site? I never noticed.

If you only look at S/S and tech talk, you will only see skiing related posts (for the most part). I don't get it...

I enjoy the shitshow. This place would be kinda boring without the great Hijinks that happens in PA and the Padded room.

I ignore it as I do IRL. Not having any idea what any of it means helps keep me from opening my yap and exposing my ignorance. Stick to my interests.

The funny thing is is we try to not police this place at all. We have let the maggots decide what to do. As Advres said, the maggots requested that forum so we set it up. Then the maggots requested to not have it in new posts so we did that. The maggots do not want us to over moderate, so we clip very few things. Most of what we do is move things around to the right place, i.e. tech talk things out of the main forum. None of this has anything to do with trying to get more clicks, but to keep this a maggot environment where we help facilitate maggot goals.
I am glad that you will still use this place to buy and sell your gear. We are happy that this has value to people for things like that.

Just to get a clear understanding of what you are looking for is it.
Kill the Polly Ass forum and constantly delete any political threads from the padded room, which is the "dump" for all other things? In addition you suggest we delete more users that are acting up? We have tried to kick out the truly bad apples and asshole alias' as that is against the spirit. Honestly, I am seldom aware of who they are unless it is specifically pointed out to me with an explanation of what they are doing wrong. I guess we need to pay more attention to this DBT guy, as I have not followed this saga.

DBT is just a troll...not a cancer. Just put him on ignore if you don't like it. No big deal. But writing an 'open letter' to people who have better things to do than pay attention and be nanny to whiners and wankers is just 'tarded.

I am barely cognizant of DBT; I know enough to know that most think he's a dumbass, and that most are probably right. I don't post in PolyAsshat, so I don't see him much. And while I guess he started to infect the Padded Room, sounds like those got dealt with before I saw them?

This whole thread seems like much ado about nothing.

polyass is fine in general with the exception of dbt and his alter ego ilikegoatse. there are plenty of other similarly minded dumbshits who undoubtedly think the same of me and others, but dbt is the only one who spams the shit out of the place with constant disinformation. there's a big difference between pulling a few weeds and overmoderating. dbt does nothing but spam disinformation, apparently on somebody's payroll.

i hardly go to polyass anymore. if i wanted to listen to that kind of shit i'd turn on rush or one of the other wealthy propagandists who make money on idiots.

Putting aside my mild bout of butthurtness the other night, as long as DBT stays in polyass, this place will be fine.

It just kind of sucks that it's necessary to have a place like polyass at all. It's like the settling pond where all of TGR's shit trickles down to. But every once in a while, that shit comes bubbling up and starts spraying the other parts of the forum, and that's... shitty. A watchful eye by the members usually does an ok job of keeping this at bay, but the usual method of solving this problem by either large scale heckling or simply ignoring them doesn't work on DBT. The problem I have with DBT isn't that he says stupid shit, or posts something that pisses me off, or does something offensive - everyone does that. It's that he does it non-stop, relentlessly. Most trolls get tired and go away, or at least offer some redeeming quality amongst their trolling. DBT has been here for years and has yet to post anything worthwhile.

It's also noteworthy that polyass wasn't always quite so bad. Sure, people don't want the padded room clogged with political shit. But there was a time when there were legitimate discussions in there. Now the ratio of DBT spam to actual conversations is about 10:1.

I don't have any solutions, which I suppose makes me part of the problem. So I guess I'll head over to polyass - I hear Romney is a serial rapist.

PA was created due to Obama zombies last elections. The anti-Palin threads were insane. The dumbecrats created it way more than the replublitards.

The dumbocrats created the forum. Go back and look. The constant PALIN threads was the reason this subforum exists.

Not disagreeing, and I'm not saying that polyass isn't needed. But look back at the oldest polyass threads - there was actually a pretty wide range of people posting in there. Now there's like 15-20 usernames that ever go in that place. And half of those names are probably either Blurred or Jer.
