Cherry Peak 2-11-05 TR

Check back later tonight for a video that Twoplanker (Shawn) is making. I shot a bit of video, but I am letting him work with the video.

Skied Cherry Peak today with Shawn. It would have been nice to ski the north side Z Gulley, but Shawn was harboring a nasty virus in his lungs. So we opted for the beautiful SE face and it's stunning ridge.

The skiing off the ridge was mellow, but exciting knowing what lied to your left. Fun to ski a remote wilderness peak with nobody around.

This is the side that we wanted to ski. But that will have to wait for another day.

Today was the first time I skied off a peak when the day started with a descent, before the main ascent to the peak.

That's fun on the way there, not so fun on the way back. Not a bad way to start the day, but not the best way to end it. Just remember that living well is the best revenge.

This is a cornice on Cherry Peak that has been creeping like a glide crack for who know how long.

Okay, here's the video. It's heavy on the scenics and climbing shots because that's how it was today. The snow wasn't anything special, but mission accomplished - we bagged Cherry Peak.

Since I was sick all day, I felt like I was just staying alive... :)

Did you use the BeeGees before? I don't rememeber that. That's OK. The BeeGees belong to all of us. ;)

I pulled over on the way up to get a shot of the Bros and to kill a few minutes since I was early.

How come you didn’t take the fall-line from the summit? Wrong aspect, wrong conditions, wrong way to exit?
