Do these bindings suck?

I got a nice package deal for Rossi Scratch FS + Binders... while I typically want a DIN up to 12, I figured up to 11 couldn't hurt. But I am so far out of the loop regarding bindings (I mean really, who gets excited over bindings?!) that I have no idea how these are.

Axium 200 Scratch Binders

They felt really light which I usually construe as cheap - but after reading the product info, it states "lightest bindings on the market" so maybe that's what they were going for and it isn't just an effect of being cheap.

Might try to trade up tonight and pay the difference to see if I can get something better. If they try to shackle me to the "package", I may just get a refund.

the whole point of getting look/rossi bindings is the heelpiece, that those do not have. upgrade...

The Axial toe is good. I've never had issues with the Axium "step-in" style heel and it seems to work OK, but the Axial turntable heel is much better.

looks like we all best get used to the axium step-in style...because they don't make the axial anymore...

Rossi is recommending a Junior ski (Scratch Pro) with this binding. I wouldn't buy if I were you.

Just to close the loop on this one. Went back up to the ski sale last night to try to swap out the binders and trade up. They were pretty skimp in the binding department. Nothing up to 12 at all. I asked the guys if they could switch it out with something from one of their shop locations (the sale was at Giants' Stadium) and he said that they couldn't as the Scratch FS were bought/ordered FROM Rossi with the Axium bindings as a set - which I do believe as I've seen it advertised in this way in other places - and I tried to get the bindings switched out from at least 2 other vendors.

So.. I returned them. I got some push-back because the "fine print" says that all sale items only qualify for store credit.. thankfully, Ms. road trip was there ready to gear up for the first time buying the whole store (skis + boots + bindings + poles + jacket + socks + hat + goggles). I started to tell her we'd take our business elsewhere when the guy said he could try to "special order" new binders for me. I had him run my return (NOT for store credit) and then I'd call him later.

In the meantime I ordered a pair of skis off the interweb.

Generally Rossi w/ give 2 yr warranty if ski has Rossi binders or at least drill holes. You might need to suck up a lil for warranty, might wanna keep that in mind.

Get rid of those things.
