No poopenhausen, unless she's into it.
Don't not get her anything and then tell her that she's "not your mother"...they don't like that much.
Don't take off for the day to play outside with the guys.
I've been married some time, a crazy long time that a guy like me has tricked a way over my head girl into being married to me and also being the hard working mother of my kids, 9 and 7. The tricky thing has always been her birthday is right around the same time as Mother's Day. I've really done some cool things in the past, general stuff you know, taking care of her. This year her b-day is on Thursday, I'm leaving Friday morning for a 12hr mtn bike race, back Sunday sometime. With the crappy winter she has had few weekends without me around, I'm thinking she's going to like this.
easy. take the kid(s) for the day and let her do whatever she wants.
^^^ i thought that too, but our son stays with me at my shop all day everyday so my wife wants to spend all the time she can with him, so I think that is out.
Two years ago, I spent mother's day and my sisters birthday in detox (they just happened to be the same day). My mother's day advice is don't spend mother's day in detox.
There are no hard and fast rules. Every mother is different. My wife doesn't give a shit about M-day as I don't care about fathers day.
As this is your first, I would get her something nice as a commemorative, like as nice ring or necklace. After that go skiing.
My wife isn't really a jewelry chick, but I got her a necklace from this place http://www.hotmamadesigns.com/ It did the trick.
That^^ custom name/made jewelry stuff is awesome.
I was just telling DTM the other night that if I wore jewelry, that's what I'd want for Mom's day or my bday. It would be almost the only jewelry I wear, ever.
Coming from a Mom of a 2 yr. old and our last on the way, I'd want a day to just do whatever I want. No real responsibilities, a nap, some time in the sun, good food and if I wasn't 6 months preggers, I'd want to go skiing all day or for a mt. bike ride, at anytime I wanted followed by a meal cooked by the husband-breakfast, lunch or dinner. Whatever.
I'm lucky enough to stay with our boy Sam all the time, so to have a day to myself would just be awesome.
Now, if you're wife works all the time, the opposite would probably be the great for her...spending time with the kid(s) and you. Ask her what she'd like to do? And even if women say they don't really care about getting pretty flowers....They do. So do it:)
Congratulations DTM and AC!
My bil was killed in a car crash on Mother's Day headed to his parents for a BBQ so that's a sad day in our house. I'm not allowed to get my wife anything other than maybe a card, flowers are taboo.
I didn't know bots had mothers.
GL--I can't imagine how bad Mother's Day is for your MIL. Too sad.
