Freeride Legend Pro Review
First off, let me clarify that I ride the long narrow LP, a/k/a/ the Super Nobis, and not the short fat one, or the long fat one (which no one seems to have yet). I'm 6'4" 220 lbs.
I loved the ski so much last year that I bought a used pair for my BC touring ski. I am absolutely thrilled with this thing.
Being able to ski the same ski with Look P14 and with Fritschi Freeride, I can isolate binding issues. The Fritschi lift is good, but there is a lot more chatter on hardpack and firm snow, and the ramp angle is a bit flatter.
As for the chatter, if you keep them fully and properly loaded it is not as much of an issue.
OTOH, they are 2 pounds lighter and are the BC setup I have been dreaming of.
If you mostly ski inbounds, alpine binders are still way better, more solid and more controlled.
Skied them a bunch with my Garmont GRides, and it just requires a more centered stance, more finesse and a bit less aggression. But, it was amazing how I could ski so well in this setup. Most downsides were boot related. Can't pressure the tip when mach-ing high speeds and if the tip hits crud, the boot absorbs too much deflection and the ski is not as controlled.
Overall, this is an outstanding setup, and it makes me dream of that superstiff AT boot of the future.
Now I just need one more pair to use for Tele!
