Mortgages and getting pre-approved

It's time to start looking for a house and I want to get pre-qualified first. Any mags a mortgage officer or can recommend one? or a decent bank / credit union? I searched but all the results were super old. Any help would be much appreciated.

Don't know if he is still in the business, but PM inspector gadget. If he is not still doing loans, I am sure he knows who in SLC is. His a good mag so he should not some reputable lenders in your town.
