Tips for filling you Mammut/Snowpulse canister

Blew up the check valve on my Mammut canister today, 72 hours to break my new toy, not too shabby. It's on it's way back to Mammut for a new one.
Jason at Mammut sent me a few tips to help prevent this from happening in the future:

‘Please be aware that careful filling of your air cartridge can help to avoid problems with the quick-disconnect fitting. Make sure to fill the tank as slowly as possible.

After the tank is filled, it is necessary to release the pressure between the air-cartridge and the fill-tank—it is critical to release this pressure as fast as possible, if the pressure is allowed to slowly bleed pressure off it will not close the valve and the tank will not hold air.

Filling the cartridge from an air compressor may make this problem worse, as due to the large volume of air in the hose it is difficult to release the pressure quickly enough.”

Out of curiosity - where in the SLC area did you 'attempt' to fill the canister? Any PC/SLC peeps have a recommendation to get a Snowpulse/Mammut canister filled?

I got it filled at Dive Utah in Holladay, the first fill was fine, I test fired 'er and went for a refill and blew the check valve. The Dive Utah guy was helpful, I was in the back filling it with him and the process looked fine, I'll got back there with the tips and try again. I kinda figured it was idiot proof, guess I was wrong.

The paintball fill stations should bleed the air before you disconnect. Also, fill slowly, then top up a while later. The cylinder heats up when you fill it, and you lose a significant amount of pressure when it cools. (up to 500psi in a 45ci 4500psi bottle)

Hey all,

Quick question, is there anywhere in Salt Lake City that I can go and have them do the whole refill process for me? Do the guys at "Dive Utah" know their stuff for filling the canisters?

If not, perhaps a dealer for snowpulse? I must be retarded, because I can't figure it out with a google search.

Basically, I don't want to do this the first time through just a online tutorial, but I want to learn from another person directly.

If not, then I assume I just need a scuba to paintball adapter as so and the extra o-rings?

Dive Utah will put air in the canister, everything else is up to you.. if things go wrong it's pretty obvious....
