Lifter plate question

I just picked up some Volant Machete soul's and Salomon 810ti's. My question is... the Volants come with a lifter plate already mounted, so should the Salomons be mounted with the lifter plates that come with the bindings also? Or should I take the Salomon plates off and just mount the bindings directly to the Volant plate? With both sets of plates will I be too high up off the ski? The only risers I have ever skied on until now are the Salomon ones on a set of Driver 997 carbon with no plate on the ski. Thanks!

I should also say that the guys at the shop where the bindings are being mounted right now (Ski Market) said they thought I should use both plates, but they didn't seem too confident of their answer. If using both plates will be too high then I will just get shorter screws and remove the Salomon plates. Once again, Thanks!

Depends on what you want and where you will be spending a majority of your time.

The more lift you have, the more leverage you have on your edges. More leverage/height is better for hard snow conditions.

The downside of more height is slower edge to edge transitions.

If you are going to be using the skis for powder/BC, then no lifter. If you are going to mainly be using then for inbounds resort skiing on harder snow, then use the Salomon lifter on top of the Volant plate. As I recall, the Volant plate on the Machete's isn't huge, so it won't make "that" much difference either way.

The risers for the 810 are the drill-through type. Mount the skis up with the risers. If you don't like the feel, unscrew the binding, swap out the plates and long screws, and screw back down. No binding re-adjust would be required.

Most every else I talked to has said the taller you go, the faster the edge to edge transition.
