So, long story short, I am borrowing a pair of friend's skis with no skins and had to improvise yesterday as things have warmed up here in Canterbury, NZ and boot-packing through knee-deep SUCKS!

I ended up ripping a cheap vest in half and strapped it on using ski straps and medical tape. They actually worked quite well until we hit the steeps, and then it was back to slogging.
