Napoleon Dynamite

Oh my friggin GOD!!!!! Easily the best movie I have seen in a long long time. I was laughing so hard my stomach hurt, I was crying and I had to pause the movie so I could go outside and calm down. The entire movie is so incredibly awkward and dork-ish and bizarre. I mean the kid wears moonboots the entire movie and draws unicorns and shit!!!! I know, it sounds odd and queer and stupid and wicked bizzah and it totally is. I put it up there as an instant classic with the likes of Office Space. On the Vinzclortho 57 star rating system, I give this movie 50 stars.

Go rent it now, hell just buy it!! I promise it's worth it. Roommate and I rented it last night and I'm going to use the gift card that work gave me to Best Buy to buy this dvd tonight!

i had to convince my wife that this is current, and not an 80s movie.

I bought it last week,and coulnd't agree more with you Vinz.

So many good lines and moments in that flick.

I think my favorite part is when he's chugging Gatorade, just the way he attacks the bottle had me rolling on the floor.

I spent like three hours working on the shading on your upper lip. Its pretty much the best drawing I've ever done.

Do the birds have large talons?

There are alot of gangs in this school. One of them had wanted me to join because of my bo-staff skills.

Uncle Rico is pretty awesome. The whole flick just kills me.

I concur. This movie is frigging hillarious. All my friends tell me I look like Napoleon. That's just great :confused:

thank you guys for posting this...and for the overwhelming response. I kind of wanted to buy the movie, as it looks really funny, but never saw it in the theaters and for some reason don't like renting a movie and then going to buy it.

Anyway, looks like Best Buy will be getting a visit from me tomorrow :D

anyway, Filmed right here in my neck of the woods, and honestly it gave a pretty clear picture of what life is really like in good old preston Idaho. perhaps the most qoutable movie ever among the likes of Dumb and dumber and office space.

This movie rulz, easily the best movie I've seen in a long time. For sure an instant classic.

I grew up about an hour from there myself. Great flick. We went to see this in the theaters with one of my cousins in Denver. She too is from the same small town in Northern UT my wife and I are from. On the way out she said: "That movie was so true, I bet you guys can even name the guy who was like Napolean Dynamite from your class."....my wife went kind-of quiet at that point and then finally said: "yep, it was _____ _____."The name she mentioned was another one of our cousins. It was pretty hilarious and accurate.

they actually had ligers a few miles up the road from Preston in the Lava Hot Springs area. They escaped in 1995 along with some lions and hybrid wolves. Caused some minor commotion.

i agree with the gatorade chug, though it is kind of tough to beat the liger and the "buttload of gangs" and the LUCKKYYYYYYYY and and and i could go on for days...until i had quoted the entire movie

I'm also now a huge fan of when Kip and Napoleon are testing Kip's reflexes and the doorbell rings. Napoleon friggin WHACKS Kip upside the head. It's sweet.

Great line, he actually lives in Springville, Utah...about 5 minutes from my house. Some buddies of mine saw him at Red Robin in Provo a couple months back, said he had like 5 hot chicks asking for his autograph...LUCKY! This movie is very true to life for a lot of Utahns.

OK, I just watched the movie and thought it was pretty mediocre. Yeah, I laughed at a couple scenes, but it just didn't do much for me. If you want a movie about a nerd that's actually somewhat entertaining watch Welcome to the Dollhouse.

AD I think you have to take it with a grain of salt.

More specifically, a whole bunch of beers.

I mean c'mon...the farmer shooting the cow...the uncle throwing the steak...the skit...

I just watched it last night, and I was LMAO all night long.

Well, yes you do, but it's difficult to like a movie where all the characters are so unlikeable. I guess I'm more a fan of the movies featuring likeable nerds like Sixteen Candles or Revenge of the Nerds. And speaking of those movies, weren't you a little disappointed ND had to follow the tired formula that the nerds finally get their day in the sun? It just didn't seem to fit the movie.

Hmmmm....I'm not going to argue with an engineer over how best to properly portray nerds on the big screen. You guys have got that science down to an art... :wink: :wink: :wink:
