bootfitter advice needed

I have plans to see larry up in boulder, but hes away at the moment and my right foot hurts.

2 weird problems...

first off... in my old boots *atomic ride 10.50,* I have custom thermoflex liners, footbeds and a booster strap. They are 3 years old and theyre on their way out. All of a sudden I have foot pain underneath my foot in the boot between the ball of my foot and slightly to the right of my right foot. Hard to describe, like an ache. After skiing it hurts in this area for a day or two.

As a result of this I went out and got a newer boot, last years rossi bandit xx, which seemed to do the trick, but the wierd thing is now I have a problem in this boot with the left boot? If I skid a turn to the right (pressuring the left boot) or coming out of a carve into a skid the right the boot will actually cause the ski to skip or hop around. It also makes the left ski unstable in some spots. (wobbly, makes me think its going to catch an edge and flip me) I tried switching skis just to make sure its the boot and its definitely the left boot.

I know these are oddball Q's and problems, but hoped someone may have had similar experiences.

I would like to dial in my new boots, or salvage the old ones --- what would you do? Hopefully next week when my footfitter guru larry returns he can rectify my problems.

Do you feel pressure on the sides of the foot? Maybe squeezing the foot enough to causethe met heads to pressure the nerve running up to the toes.

do you get the same pain/feeling without the footbeds?

does it get better when you are skiing, standing around, or with your feel unweighted (hanging on the chair)

not sure what kind of footbeds exactly. I know that they arent cork and I didnt have a vacuum bag or anything like that on my foot. THey were heated in an oven and then I stood on em for a while. I think the boots hurt the most when Im simply standing on them, but I never really noted when they did and did not hurt. simply that they are uncomfortable and cause me foot pain when Im back in sneakers up to 2 days after skiing.

I do have some pressure on the outsides of my foot...but I have no idea what the rest of your sentence means.

Following on Evil E...my $.02 would be to make sure your fit from ball of foot to outside of little toe's ball_joint(name?) is ideal....No squeezing....nor rising/sagging in between, and make sure your foot is all level from your arch on up to this area. Your foot could possibly be doing some subtle twisting..in between heel and this area...from throwing some ductape underneath somewhere.., causing subtle twisting above...

Met heads are basically the ball of your foot or metatarsal joints and each toe has one. Nerves and blood vessels run between the 'met heads' to go up to each toe. If you have pressure from either side that is enough to squeeze even gently on that area you may get pressure on one of those nerves.

You may need to relieve some pressure. A foot bed that supports better and keeps your foot from spreading in width when weighted might help with this and other issues. Stretching the liner/shell may be necessary though.

seconded... cork footbed from larry and a re-heat of the liners is step 1 for sure.
