Fiji 101
I'm studying abroad in Australia from Feb-July and then on the way home I'm stopping in Fiji for a week. I've been trying to put together some way to go surfing and check out the nice beaches in a short amount of time. I'm flying into Nadi International Airport. From what I gather, Nadi is heavily tourist oriented, but a good starting point for the rest of Fiji.
The good breaks around Tavarua and Namotu seem only feasible if you're staying at one of the resorts. Otherwise you have to hire a boat from the mainland. Also it sounds like the beaches around Nadi are muddy/not that nice. Further south around Natadola they are a bit nicer and theres some surfing spots.
What I'm getting at is has anyone been to Fiji (SP?) and where did you stay (island resorts, or mainland)? I'm only there for 6 nights and 7 days so I'm trying to get some solid surfing in while also trying to see the sites of Fiji.

Look up Waindroka Resort for a good place (I've stayed there) to get boat trips to about 5 different reefs including Frigates Pass (Cloudbreaks twin). It will run ya about 75-100$ a day for everything. That's beachside lodging, food and boat trips. Beautiful place. April-October are the best months.
The same answer I'd give ya on Surfer Travel BB. ;)
