It is infesting my computer. When I start up internet explorer, it takes over and loads it's own bullshit search page. I try to go to 'tools' and change the 'home page' site, but it keeps reverting back to the above.
I've done the virus scan, etc. Can't seem to figure it out.

Try installing software called HijackThis, it should set you straight.

Mozilla's Firefox doesn't catch this disease. Download it free, you'll run clean until the virus assholes start to write virus' and spyware for Firefox. (It'll take a while)
Also, make sure your computer is up to date with respect to Windows updates (go to "Start," "All Programs," "Windows Update"). Windows update uses IE, so run AdAware first to get rid of the junk infesting your machine.
I've made a little xmas $$$ going to people's homes to get their computers sane again...steps: try to get machine to at least boot, remove random crap from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Run, reboot, install Firefox, use it to download AdAware, run AdAware, run Windows update, remove IE icon from desktop.

Another vote for Firefox here. Also, I just switched to Thunderbird for my e-mail. I had run Spybot, Adaware, and some other shit. I accidentally erased something key to Outlook. Turned out to be a blessing, since it got me to get off my ass and get on Thunderbird.
Not to hijack, but does anyone running Firefox still have explorer issues? I get some pop-ups occasionally, that I can not get rid of. I just have to click the x, until they disappear. I think this all coincides with a recent stupid move- I installed Limewire.
Any suggestions?

SP2 has some serious program interface problems one of which is causing Program Shutdowns in everything from Internet Explorer, to QuickBooks, to the Office Suite
There is no known cure (that I am aware of)
1. Reinstalling the program (may or may not fix it)
2. Uninstalling SP2
These program faults are listed in your event viewer, and can be researched however they will not pull any useable information on technet or on microsofts newsgroups sites. You can find links on a few other sites that will indicate the problem with not too many solutions.
Yeah, I put off installing it for quite some time due to the problems I was reading about...then my new laptop at work either came with it installed or it did an auto update. It didn't kill my work machine so I installed it on my personal laptop.Quote:

Firefox + Adblock + Moox = Happy surfing.
Once you go to tabbed browsing, you can't go back. The only pain is that a few websites are optimized for IE and act strangely with Firefox.
EDIT: I haven't seen a popup since installing the first official release. And Adblock can block those little ad popups that are embedded into a website (Java, Flash, etc.) that are so annoying.
Firefox is working great for me. Thanks for the advice. I deleted that lame Internet Explorer.
