Motor Kits for Bicycles
Has anyone ever purchased a kit for mounting a 2 stroke or 4 stroke gas engine on a regular bicycle? I was thinking this could be a great shuttle vehicle as opposed to bringing 2 vehicles, hitching, or pedaling a bike. I looked on-line and there appears to be a wide range of kits, from the >$600 golden eagle (http://www.bikeengines.com/) to >$150 Kings Kits (http://www.kingsmotorbikes.com/). I have an old GT Avalanche Mountain bike that I would be willing to mount one of these on as a lightweight shuttle rig for dirt/backroad shuttles in MT (no interstate travel), but I do not know anyone that has done this....anyone ever do this or know someone that has? If so how does it run? any recs or info would be helpful...Thanks....

Those are both kind of neat. You have gotten me thinking about a new commuter vehicle now. I use my plated dirt bike as my desert shuttle vehicle if we are just a couple of boaters. If there is any chance you are going to use in on pavement, do not exceed the 50cc max or it is a motorcycle, which requires licensing and insurance.

I just bought a motor for my cruiser. I will put up an update in sprocket rockets in a couple of days. Pics and progress report.

I have a neighbor that has a couple electric motor bikes he uses for runs to the store and stuff.
With gas this high, it makes a lot of sense.

Mount the motor on some rubber bushings or you'll rattle your fillings out.
