I wondering how many times you can drill a set of skis before it starts getting too swiss cheese like and compromising the ski?
Also, when selling skis everyone usually says they were drilled for this whatever binding before. So if I bought a pair of skis that had previously been drilled for Salomon's I wouldn't mount my Salomon's in the same holes, right? I'd have to mount them a little ahead or a little behind. Just wondering.
This question seems to come up alot and the rule of thumb seems to be 3. As for the remount in the the same holes.... I'd say its possible as long as the holes arn't stipped or damaged. Just add glue.Quote:

Flimsy foamy skis might only get 2 or 3. As long as there's a decent amount of space (1.2x screw hole diameter) between holes, you should be ok. I had a pair of Olin Outer Limits (basically old AK Launcher) that had approximately 40 holes in each ski (including helicoils halfway on top of old plugs, and plugs that were touching other plugs) by the time I had them nailed to a fence, and they didn't break. YMMV.

i hav snow rangers with 5 sets of hole, and while getting the bindings actually ON was difficult, the core is still in good shape and they ski fine.

If boot center so dictates I would mount straight in the origional holes....with 24hour epoxy.....hey if they rip out you can always helicoil them......if the ski is foam core I'd helicoil them anyway.....bindings tend to fall out of foam cores..Quote:
