Riding the NE

Even though that Phunk guy jongs his ass in powder all day, the east is still alive in riding...since the skiing still sucks here, I have some good news to you folks that are looking for a ride. The Cape still has good riding w/the good drainage and all...check out Otis & Trail of Tears. Been riding 25 of last 30 days...it's REAL good man! Just thought i'd let you know. It's worth crossing the bridge. Till the snow flys that is! Good day rides & nites too, been high 40F and up to 58F over last couple of weeks, 35F+ at nite. I hear Vietnam is good too, but have not gone over the bridge since last April.

Cross the bridge...it's worth it & NO traffic!

Note: For TOT; Little wet down off off Race lane, start off of Service Road if you don't want to dirty your pretty rig. However, I always start down low...I need the warm-up, plus its a nicer place to crack a beer after. A LOT OF HUNTING GOING ON RIGHT NOW. (real cool people though, don't let it spook you) Otherwise, Otis last trailhead off of route #151 & Rt 28 is always good...but don't start late, unless you know it...you will get lost (hint: just listen for traffic...bail out and hit the road, but be careful) If guns bother you don't ride till Sundays on either. I'll say that every hunter I've met down here is cool with his/her shots.

Maybe as a safety precaution, wear some blaze orange.

You never can be too safe. I am a hunter myself, and while no one would mistake a biker for a deer, it's always better to be sure.

Oh, and if you see some deer, tell the hunters which way the deer went.

And also, for you activist types, purposely interfereing with a legal hunt can get you arrested and thrown in jail.

Leominster forest near Wachusett has some real nice singletrack. Might be a little soggy now though...

"Blaze Orange!" It's freak'n unreal how many MTBrs I see on trail topped off in dull colors. I don't even see em until thier in my face! My threads are fairly basic tones as well, but before this hunting season, I went out and bought the brightest neon red/orange super sized Zip-T I could find - this IS my last layer! I top it off with my old red helmet & red gloves. The other day, hooked up with a dude who was wearing a grey and white helmet, black pants and a very nice high-tech brown and white jacket (WTF!). Cruising, he looked like a freaked out deer.

There are signs here posting hunting and the dates for what game & what ammo...it is followed by a statement that anyone harrassing hunters will be arrested...and that is just fine by me. There are plenty of jerk-offs {posing} on the trailheads muttering shit about hunters. What are ya goiing to do...lecture Morons in Assachusetts. There are shithead MTBers & Skiers alike, just like everywhere else.These are the same asses scream that something should be done when they hit a deer driving or shake there heads and cough when I pop a brew & exhale a little smoke after a ride.

BTW: saw a giant two weeks ago, it's huge ass was snow white & looking fine, i cruised like a madman a mile or so back & found my new hunter/friend/toker and told him where it was...his response "Its bird season, man!"

Ride on & happy hunting (& hopefully a mega white new year) My coon hound, Jake is from your area, but he failed hunting 101 so now he's stuck with me.

Any details/sites? I'll check MTBreview.com and see what they have, is there a name besides Leomister Forest?

In the day, many a good stop-by at the Zoo & Titzyburg State, must be good riding outside the dorms too, eh? Whats the name of the local cool bike shop for info. i don't think I'm allowed on those pussy's anymore.

Just Another

Road the Trail of Tears (ToT) 2.3 hours today...it is MINT!

GREAT RIDE. If you know it, the rolls & hills were packed leaf & perfect... Fast. Very little mud...non really except down low.
The low down: it's not too tech, but this place will make you sweat! Short steeep climbs, rock gardens, short steep climbs, good fast rollercoasters up & out (air shots). And Ride em hard...BIG ber-arms to die for! Set the 2.3s in for the corner & drive it med/hard...big return, man. SWEET!

A lot of Smiles!

(15+ marked miles...5+ off piste)

Nickerson's riding pretty good right now too, despite some downed branches from the wind mid-week. I'll be out there again this afternoon. Oh, and Otis was a little soggy in the corners yesterday but still some of the best around. If anybody's still riding middays out here on the Cape, I'm game. Let me know here if there's any interest in meeting up.

I think it's just known as Leominster State Forest. It's a little hard to find, but if you follow the directions on MTBR or just get close to Wachusett and ask for directions you should be fine. If you end up going just shoot me a PM and i'll give you some tips on getting there.

edit: I'll start biking there again in late spring/summer when I get out of school, so if your still interested then I'd be happy to show you around.

I now Ride the Cape everyday...however with this snow thing I will be tied up M thru W. I ride TOT pretty much everyday otherwise, like to check out the Nickerson thing...so lets Ride. PM me, I live in Barnstable, don't know much about yourc area except tot.

Riding is stilll real good as of today, Saturday, December 5, on TOT. A little wet down low...take the fire road up from Race lane, hit anything, its all good. Will ride it tomorrow...then it's the Old Man counrty Monday thru Wedesday...yahoo its happening again! Passes a-ok.
