Printer help (computer related)

I have an HP OfficeJetG55 printer/copier/scanner. For some reason it sometimes (like now) won't print. Sometimes it works fine. It will copy right now, but not print. There is an message on the screen that says "Press Enter to Align Cartridges". I do that and it prints out a test sheet with a bunch of boxes and lines, then the message comes back and it still won't print.

I've uninstalled and reinstalled the cartridges several times, and as I said, it copies fine.

Anybody know wtf?

Turn it off. Wait a couple minutes and turn it back on.

sounds like it could be your printer cable. check your connections. [shrug]

I had a similar problem with an epson printer some time ago. I went through the printer preferances and did all of the alignment crap that they reccomend, still no workey. So I did the ol' standby computer fix it all and did a system shutdown, turn everything off, computer, printer and everything. start it all back up and see what happens. And that fixed it up. Worth a try. Other than that I am of little help.

Yep - always a system restart.

Also, if it's hooked up through your pc, you might want to power that down as well. When it's off, check the printer cable connections at both ends.

If it continues to lock up and not print, uninstall the software driver for the printer and then reinstall it.

I notice a certain theme running through a lot of the threads ice starts:

Needs printer help

Can't get disk drive to work

What do these "forum features" do?

Imagine how much you'd post if it weren't for your technical difficulties! :p

Might consider unpluggin it in addition to shutting it off. Some printers will not clear their memory unless you unplug.

I left you a message on your phone Friday right after skiing. The message detailed something about meeting up for dinner that evening in the valley and I made fun of how normal your voice mail greeting was. Two trips/connections marred by cell-phones.

Check for a "pc load letter" warning.
