really great. nice work, fellow Dad.
Skylers stoked to have a Dad who has a clue. You seem to have him plenty well rounded in outdoor sports. Way to go. :yourock:
Nice drop and turns Dad, did he film you?
Cheers to you BC! Not even my kid and that vid makes me proud to be a father. Maybe the only thing better than being a dad would to be a kid again huh?
The only thing that I didn't like was "The End". It looks like closer to the beginning for the two of you!
Peace.
"That was sweet!"

Looks like he is ready to go inverted into the water!!! :fm:
At what age did he start boarding?
What size board?
Lessons learned?
I'm taking my 40lb 4 year old out maybe this weekend for his first day boarding. We got a Burton 100cm LTR
nice bacon....i took my 5 year old out this last weekend for his first day on snow....he has a new 111cm chopper.....he strapped in and i pulled him up about 35 feet on a easy slope.....he glided it perfectly 10 times! brought a lil' tear to the ol' man's eye.
i'm signing him up for snowcamp here at Bachy....i'm kinda at a loss as to how to get him started on the basics, lame, i know. leave it to the professionals, i say. if he can control his speed and get on/off the chair, then we're set.
Thanks all!
This is the most rewarding video I’ve made. So many good memories get stoked when I watch it.
Baconzoo,
For my shot I used a page out of the Mike Basich self-portrait book. I set the camera up on a tripod and my buddy reached over and hit record before his started shooting stills. Sky has filmed me doing other stuff but I wouldn’t have had him with me on that day in the bc…it was deeeep. His first winter bc experience was last spring where we did an overnighter and got some turns (see video). The snow was suncupped but we made the most of it. It’s going to be a while before he can go into the bc in the winter with me. But summer he’s all over it…no avys. He’s been hiking and spending the night in the mountains since he was 4.
I also got him on a snowboard for the first time when he was 4, he used a 100cm mighty Eldo. We went to the resorts, he didn’t take official lessons other than what I taught him. He was actually more fearless the first two years while in his 3rd and 4th seasons he’s become a bit timid and lazy…he doesn’t like to turn toeside so he just rides fakie after making a heelside turn. I’ve talked with other parents of young snowboarders and this seems to be pretty common. I’ve been told that they break out of it and once the do they really start to progress. I think this will be the year as he’s getting more mature and developed and he knows that he needs to practice toeside turns. It will happen soon enough…the important part is that he is having fun.
Good luck with your boy! I’m sure he’ll be rippin just like his dad in no time. Take an extra snickers bar and gatoraid if he gets hungry and don’t forget to reward him at the end of the day with a big hot cocco and yummy food.
Ps. I watched your most recent vid but didn’t bump it, sorry…nice work on it! :)
H-man,
Damn! That’s a good point…I should have said “to be continued” not the end. Next time. :)
The “that was sweeet” part was actually his little sister not Sky. Its one of my faviritwe parts!
Thanks again all!
Right on Tap!
Keep us up to date on his progress!
Great video!!
I started my son when he was 3.5 and 30 lbs. on a World Industries 98 cm board. It was a little long for him so he had problems turning on hardpack. I found that the powder is much easier for him due to him naturally leaning back and requiring much less input to get the board to turn. I also found that by building a small kicker helped him get a feel for the board because he did not want to miss it. I'm sure you will have a good time and don't forget to take a camera.Quote:

I call it the Pee Wee Herman dance, from Pee Wee's Big Adventure when he did the tequila bar dance. :o
I'm going on 20 years of boarding, so it's all knees and hips for me to dance between centripetal (side cut) and centrifugal (gravity) forces. When it’s done right its effortless action.
Thanks Tap and Crank for the gromet advice. ;)
that was an awesome video, i'm only 18 but made me want to have that kind of relationship with my son when i have one...soo awesome you guys can have so much fun together... :) :)
(I wish my dad ripped like that)
