Why are the mounting points on the Dynafit Stoke so far behind the core center? I know they have a early rise tip or whatever but the inserts are still way back. Typically I mount my skis one cm forward will this be possible with the stokes? Thanks for the beta.

Depending on when your skis were produced: "Dynafit recently sent out a note that the mounting position for the fall production run skis will be 3.3 cm forward of the production run we skied." 3.3 cm is significant...
I have a pair of new unmounted 190 DPS Lotus 120s that I'm thinking about selling/trading to get the Dynafit Stoke since I'm skiing the TLT 5 boot this year and the Lotus might be to much ski for them so I'd be interested in seeing more feedback/reviews on the Stoke once you or anyone else spends some time on them.
Thanks for the link SaltMind...I am not sure which run of stokes I have. Just got them sent to me from Dynafit a few weeks ago. Are there any markings that show the differences between the two runs of stokes? I have not mounted them up yet but will pm you with some feedback once I get them on snow.
Apparently all Stokes at MEC here in Canada are the second generation production run with the new forward mounting position....
^do you have any way of measuring where the front inserts are off the front or back of the ski in cm?

That's good to know. Basically the same impression I got, ie that the Stoke wasn't good at short - radius turns and you had to hopturn to get it to turn. That was the early run quasi proto - first gen Stokes. I didn't know the amount that the points were moved forward though - 3.3cms is a lot
Dibs on the 120's if you decide to sell. You are right about the boots, though people have been skiing some pretty bigs skis with them, I think they have sort of been put on a pedestal. Dynafit meant them to be used for lightweight mountaineering and they recommend them for use with their smaller lighter skis. The Stoke would probably be best pushed with a bigger boot, as well, to get the most out of it.Quote:

Dynafit recommends the rear mount position for my boot sole length of 316mm. I'd like to go forward based on the ski reviews from the spring run but with the 3.3cm move forward it may not be needed. So has anyone been experimenting with the two mount positions?
